SPACE FLIGHT (Thoughts)

Is Destiny BIG enough scale wise, to have manual spaceflight? Will we get planet to planet flight, dogfights, warp etc. or will it all be totally cutscened? Choice of multiple spacecrafts with option to upgrade parts bought in the city/found on quests. What are your thoughts everyone?

They have some daunting interviews that pretty much destroyed everyone's hopes of flying their ships. But deep down after watching the video from the Roghnut that features a introduction to our solar system the inner game designer in me can see using that as both the system map and how we actually get around from planet to planet using the ship as a in game cursor. It's easy to envision something out of Reach and the Long Night of Solace where you fly in a massive map of our solar system but nothing real time like EVE online. Once you approach a planet you go into orbit and you'll see missions or friends as markers on the horizon as you fly to them and then it warps you into joining your buddy and your ship bolting off into the sky and orbit as seen in the E3 demo. That's what I'm hoping for but whatever happens I'm sure I'll be blown away by the final product and Bungie's vision.

I'm thinking it'll be big enough, but I don't think we'll get it. FF to about 3:15. Interviewer: We see some new players dropping into the battle from their ships. And I know that the players can have their own ships, and collect them, like mounts in roll playing games. But can they actually fly them in the full game? Chris Butcher (Bungie): So, in Destiny, we travel all over the solar system. We travel from Earth to the lost golden age colonies on Mars and Venus and other different places, and you're traveling in your personal spaceship. But the game is about the first person shooter element. It's not a space combat simulator, I'm sorry to say.
