What's your Virmire choice?
I'm about to start a level 60 ME1 100% run that will carry me through the rest of the series. I have my checklist, my romance picked out (Liara) and my alignment chosen. The only thing making me pause is that I'm not sure who the hell to go with on Virmire. Ashley and Kaidan have the same exact standing in my eyes. They both have a tendency to irritate me and have me relate with them equally. I honestly don't use either much in my squads as I tend to like the alien squadmates far better than them put together. In the past, I picked Kaidan because he was my romance, but then I found Liara to be a more enjoyable character. Without the romance, Kaidan and Ashley are now on equal footing to be sentenced to bomb death.
So, #gaming, I leave it up to you. Who ever gets the most votes, is who I shall let live. Their lives are in your hands, you are now the judge, jury and executioner of my mildly irritating human squadmates.
Feel free to tell me why you like or dislike the characters as well.

I hate them both, but Kaiden does nothing, whereas Ash can rustle jimmies. So I kept her.

She was extra redundant seeing as my Shepard was a Soldier to begin with, but the added factor of being a racist made me want to send her out of the airlock the first chance I got, or just 'accidentally' leave her behind when we left a planet. Saren took care of her for me, and I commend him for that.

I don't like Kaidan because he's a fruity little bitch. I never liked him, and the one play through I did keep him alive in, he hits on me in ME3 even though I was already romancing Liara. Plus my shepherd isn't gay.

I've played though the game multiple times, and more often than not I choose Kaiden, just because I prefer his character. In my most recent playthrough though, I saved Ashley so I could sex her up in ME3.

Ashley being the space racist...or Kaiden who isn't that strong in combat....eh I prefer Kaiden.

I tend to save Ashley, just because Kaidan is kind of boring. He's kind of like Carth without the trust issues, cool hair, dual pistols, and orange jacket.

I know you said you don't use them much at all, so who's the more useful one probably doesn't really matter, but I would pick Ashley as the survivor as her powers and abilities are far more useful than Kaiden's. Kaiden is the much better character, imo, but Ashley is a better addition to the squad and supporting the team in gameplay.
