I saw some tiny text beneath the title "WELCOME TO THE FRONTIER". Fiddling with it, I could recognize "3D Supershape Generator By ... ..." Can't make out the name, but I looked into the text and found this.

When the Hunter strikes the first of the two combatants, there is a burst of light and an aura expands as the character disintegrates. I wonder if the shape of the auras are related to this super formula. Symmetry isn't guaranteed, and there are some interesting forms that can be derived using procedural parametric surfaces.
