As I am sitting here, I am wondering if a meteor will hit my house. I wonder what the chances of this occurring are.
Well now I know. The chances are 50/50
A meteor either will hit my house, or it will not
50/50
It either will happen, or it will not happen.
There is not a single thing or event that this does not apply to.

Edited by KilljoyDetective: 8/30/2013 6:54:58 PMRatios only begin to add up to 50/50 after a lot of tests, and we're talking dozens and dozens, you're not going to flip a coin and get Heads/Tails very often and enough to tie even doing 100 tests, that's just a simplified explanation for it when no one really wants to do a coin toss thousands of times to get that even result.
