Virtual Reality gaming and HORROR

Hey guys. I've been thinking about virtual reality a very long time now and I am glad it is getting started thanks to the Oculus Rift. Oculus Rift But, I am waiting for something.. better. Like the Nerve Gear from Sword Art Online. This is something that it fully places you inside a game. Just like if you were there in real life, with all your senses working. Basically a world without consequences. :) But now... I want to talk about something I really want to experience with this if it would ever come out. I do not know if we will ever witness full virtual reality.. But all we can do is wait and hope. Back to what I want to experience. I want to play intense horror games in virtual reality. I'll try to explain a few things that I want. And maybe you'll like it too. :) A big closed off area like a mansion or castle. Dark and horrifying. You are placed into this mansion alone, or with friends. Your only mission is to escape it. But within this building or area (it can basically be wherever you want) there are creatures, monsters, ghosts and everything! Not too much ofcourse, just a couple of deadly ones. You can also make your friend the monster or ghost (Wouldn't it be awesome to be a ghost?), but I like it better when a NPC is it. It makes it scarier. How terrifying would it be to try and escape? Going through this dark place with music in the background that creeps you up! Like this > Song I would love this very much. Another thing is something I created in Halo. It's basically a map that is sealed of with no escape. 1 zombie is put in it and the other people are just survivors. And within time the maps gets darker and darker until it is pitch black. The point here is to survive until the timer is done. How amazing would this be in virtual reality? These are just ideas because there's a lot more to think of and create. But this is something I would love! Just being in an horrifying area alone or with friends and trying to survive! :D What do you think? Do you think we will ever get to experience something like this? There's also this new horror game called Outlast. Now imagine that with full vitual reality like the Nerve Gear from Sword Art Online!

  • 100% real virtual worlds seems like a psychological nightmare. I'm sure eventually one would lose touch of what reality is, what life is, etc etc.

    • Sounds awesome, but I think only a few people would find it fun 'fun'. Most would really just start to panic for there lives, quitting the game whilst pissing themselves irl.

      • Also, you can practice lucid dreaming. It's practically virtual reality only better bc you're the programmer within the program. I practiced entering a lucid dreaming state a lot a couple years back. Now I pretty much can lucid dream every night if I just wanted too before I sleep. I usually prefer not too nowadays tho, I enjoy good ol reality. Playing God, or living out scenerios that your subconscious conjures up everynight in a realm within your head gets meaningless and tireless after awhile. That's why I said virtual realities can fk with your perception of actual reality, bc I have first hand experience.

I don't need to wear dumb head gear to be immersed in a game.
