Bradley Manning wants a sex change

This is not satire. Bradley Manning: I want to live as a woman
“I am Chelsea Manning. I am female,” the Army private wrote in a statement read on TODAY Thursday. “Given the way that I feel, and have felt since childhood, I want to begin hormone therapy as soon as possible. I hope that you will support me in this transition.”

"The Army does not provide hormone therapy or sex-reassignment surgery for gender identity disorder. The USDB has implemented risk assessment protocols and safety procedures to address high risk factors identified with the Prison -blam!- Elimination Act."
'Illegal' for US military to deny Bradley Manning sex change
Transgender advocates said it should not be up to the US military to decide if Bradley Manning gets hormone therapy after the jailed US serviceman revealed he wanted a sex change.
Will Bradley Manning's Gender Reassignment Be Tax Deductible?
Chelsea Manning faces a much more friendly tax environment than the one that existed as recently as three years ago. GID is now recognized as a disease for purposes of the Code, and the cost of treatment for GID, including hormone therapy and sex reassignment surgery, should generally be respected as deductible medical expenses.
So the real question is...
...would you hit that?
• Is there really a chance the Army could have to pay for it? I'm completely fine with him wanting to do it, but it can't be covered under any heathcare he (probably no longer) receives, right?
