Depends on the game. Do you know why TLOU has such a tight, focused, and coherent story? It's linear. Try doing that, but with an open world game. Hah, good luck. I agree though. +10 for mentioning TLOU. It's my favorite game this generation now. Maybe. A strong maybe.

Far Cry 3, open world, linear story.

  • Try a game like Skyrim doing this though.

It can be done, but it would take time. Skyrim was linear, but lacked the narrative to qualify itself as a great narrative. It was more focused on forming lore, and the look and feel of Skyrim itself, and not so much as to an in-depth, fleshed out story about why the dragon born was slaying dragons. Sure, everything was well explained, but the game was just quest to quest, there were no twists or "wow" moments.

  • Yeah. That would be cool to have an amazing story in an Elder Scrolls game.
