I haven't gotten paid yet so I can't pick up any weights or anything and I would like to start on building muscle or at least working out at home. So what are some good workouts I can do?
Also do protein shakes and stuff like that work or should I not even bother getting them?

Lots of stuff. Basics like pushups, situps, and other calisthenics are great ways to start building stamina, which will come in handy when you get the equipment.
