Only if you assume that religious texts are meant to be taken completely literally, which for most isn't the case.

    While true, there's no disclaimer in the beginning or end of the texts that says that it shouldn't be taken literally.

  • Fictional books don't have disclaimers either. You have to look at the entire context to truly understand.

  • The Bible, for example, is not filed under "fiction". The Harry Potter books are. Also, a great many parts of the Bible are interpreted literally. For example, God creating the sun, man, plants, and animals.

  • If you start this interview at 9:07, you'll learn that interpreting the bible literally is more of a modern thing.   • Yeah, thing is 2000 years ago they didn't have disclaimers and trademarks so things were relatively free to interpretation.
