Should capes become weathered over time?

I was reading the latest Mail Sack and when they described everyone being "reset" to fresh, clean Guardians it got me thinking. Capes and robes and, well, clothing of a flowing-cloth type nature looks awesome when it's been ripped, burned, 'sploded and weathered, but that's also a sign of having been out in the world and having gotten up to some business in your days. I think it would be awesome if new players started out with fresh and clean outfits that became more weathered as you progress through the game. The closest example I can think of would be the way scars work in Fable 2. Only instead of nasty scars across your face you're looking more awesomely rugged. Procedurally-generated-clothes-weathering, I guess. What do you guys think?

  • Ghost: Sir, may I remind you that you have yet to do any laundry for this week? Guardian: don't you worry your little bolts, I still have a lot of- Ghost: I beg to differ sir. Upon my calculations, you have 3 muddy robes which need a good manual wash, 5 coats with mud/blood stains which need to be thoroughly washed with a special detergent mix, 12 pieces of armor which need to be repaired, 7 pairs of shoes which need to be dusted off, cleaned and polished and some other pieces of clothing which need to be patched up again, such as your shirts and pants. Guardian: But I still have a few pair of underwear left, right? Ghost: That is correct sir, but- Guardian: Then we are golden for one more week then Ghost: .... as you wish sir
