I go to the gym every other day and my fan fiction is still fantastic. So why don't you fan fiction?

I do, I just haven't updated in six months. Got bad writer's block with it, and it's coming up to 4 years since I started it (serious.) The difference in quality between the early chapters and most recent is painful, the book really doesn't flow as a read. But I love it and other people do too, so I'll try my best to finish. Mostly been pushing on with an original novel I'm hoping to finish as of late, but that's slow work too.

  • I've got that issue with a longer Mass Effect piece I'm doing. Consider doing a bunch of one-shots to keep your skill up.

  • I try, wouldn't mind writing a Mass Effect fan fiction. But I'm not sure I'd stick with it these days. I'm a pretty decent writer and should really crack on getting one of my ideas for an original novel written and attempt to be published. Just need to find my muse again.

  • I've taken original plots within my fan fiction and put then in to original things. Fanfiction is a great way to prep for original work.

  • That's a good idea, one I've toyed with in the past. Beyond the setting and a few nuances like technology and so on, the one I linked to you has a pretty original story that can be easily retooled into one independent of the Halo universe. Might have to give that a go.

  • Well if you ultimately go for Mass Effect, there's a thorough wikia for it, thanks to the extensive in game codex.

Some guys on BSN asked me to help them rewrite the entire game. This is as far as I got before I couldn't handle my disgust for that mentality anymore, as should be clear by the ending. At the end of the Arrival event, Shepard and those who followed him braced for the war they believed to only be months away... but it never came. The days came, and went, and came, and went, but none of them brought the Reapers. As time passed, Shepard's involvement in the destruction of the Alpha Relay became widely known across the galaxy. Those who gave him the benefit of the doubt suggested that Cerberus may have tricked him, those that didn't weren't so kind. Eventually Shepard had to go into hiding, as the Council deployed the entire might of the Spectres to bring the apparent rogue into justice. Two years have passed, and the invasion has still yet to come. The entire galaxy thinks Shepard to be delusional at best, and a mass murderer at worst. But one man isn't ready to give up on Shepard yet. In what may prove to be a suicidal endeavor, he embarks in pursuit of Shepard, with the goal of bringing him evidence that the invasion began much longer than two years ago. Anderson checked his thermal scope for the third time in the last minute. No readings. He'd been following Shepard's tracks across the galaxy for the last year. Former crew, Cerberus, and even the Spectres (many of whom had written him off as dead) were no help. A tip from the Shadow Broker had led him to the frozen tundra's of Noveria's south pole. Hiding here was tantamount to suicide; not even the Nathak ventured this far south. This of course meant it was ever more likely that Shepard was here. He checked the thermal scope again "Nothing" he muttered. He'd checked the entire sector, and reluctantly let himself accept that it was time to move on. As he turned to leave, something slid past his boot under the snow. Suddenly he was in the air, then down, then stiff as a statue. "Stasis Field" he muttered through his shearing teeth. Suddenly he was loose, but still restrained. His captor turned him towards himself. The Rachni Brood Warrior eyed his prey carefully, then dragged him under. When Anderson came to, he was in front of a small pre-fab beneath a short cliff. There were more Rachni now, all waiting near the structure. He was still being dragged. As he neared the structure, a figure appeared in the door way. Shepard. "Nice guard dogs" choked out Anderson, still gripped by his captors. "They keep away the riff raff." Shepard retorted. Another figure emerged from the dwelling. Jack held an M-6 Carnifex half a meter from Anderson's temple. "He's with us everyone" warned Shepard. Anderson wasted no time. "Shepard *cough* you need to come back. The Council's been indoctrinated-they've been indoctrinated the entire time-the entire time." Without stopping to clarify, he continued "The Reapers are using them to prepare this galaxy for slaughter- a thousand times more efficient than that which consumed the Protheans." "We-- we need you Shepard." Shepard walked from the dwelling and starred at the frozen sky "Well Jack, [signature musical theme building proudly but wavering] you think we can do it again?" "Shepard-- I.." "You know what I think?" exclaimed Shepard. "I think it's just..." [Turns to Camera] "The Mass Effect." BAAH DA NA NA NA NUUHHHH NUH NUHHHH NA NUUHHH NUHHH AHHHHHHHHHHHHH
