Considering I go to college now (taking summer courses too, which sucks), there's a lot of alien faces, but I don't really have to say hello to any of them. Nonetheless, I still have to hold the door for some or say sorry/ excuse me.

Yea, when I'm in school, there are so many people around, it would be impossible to say hi to every single stranger, but I smile and nod to some when walking around campus.
