So about those Xbox One policies. . .

So yeah the fanboys are petitioning for Microsoft to return their restrictive DRM polices to the XBox One. 12,000 signatures. http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/07/11/fans-petition-for-microsoft-to-restore-original-xbox-one-policies

  • Digital downloads were actually getting some pretty cool features. Right now, you can't do anything with digital downloads, so even limited sharing is a huge step for digital content. On the flip side, they were effectively getting rid of physical games. This is where the problem was. What they should have done from the get go was keep physical disks the same: requiring the disk to play, being able to sell/transfer games at will, etc. and just bring in the improvements for digital games. You'd effectively have DRM versions of games (digital), and [almost] DRM free versions (disks). Now, since Microsoft wants to move to a completely digital console, they should have made people prefer the new method, rather than remove the old method. They could have easily done this by having the digital downloads cost less than their physical counterparts. It would have been a win-win-win scenario.

  • To tell the truth I'm not sure whether it really is Microsoft fanboys or Sony fanboys trying to screw with the Microsoft fanboys. Either way this whole situation is retarded.

    • That would be hilarious if it happened. It won't though. Microsoft won't screw up, because obviously, most people don't won't it.

    • I kind of agree, actually, but I don't care much either way.

    • I wish they would implement both to allow people to decide which they prefer. Bring back the old features and policies for those who want the benefits they provide, but leave the current policies as well for those who want them, but without the benefits the old polices provided.
