I think people have misinterpreted me here, I should have made it more clear that the above quote was not my own and I only partially agree with it (and the source as a whole). I have no persecution complex; Christians are in the majority in the US, and yes, they are often aggressively oppressive against issues like gay rights. That said, the [i]very moment[/i] that you say this attack would be [i]in any way[/i] more justifiable than an equivalent attack with the roles reversed, you have debased yourself to the level of the Christian fundamentalists.

What people don't seem to understand is that Christians believe homosexuality is a sin, but they certainly do not hate gays. Because everyone sins, and homosexuality is just one of those sins. Those preachers just can't stand letting what they believe to be a sin to be glorified, and just want to let everyone at the pride parade know the moral significance of what they are doing. By no means are they condemning anyone - because judging is also a sin. It's just shocking that they would be beat up for this.
