Looks like I'll be getting an Xbox One now
So with the recent news regarding Microsoft reversing it's DRM policy, the one thing that had been keeping me from going for the One has been resolved: I can now play games offline without the need of the 24 hour check in. I know some people saw it as a non-issue, but for me it was just a matter of long-term planning. I don't want the possibility of my console becoming a brick when it is no longer supported and the 24 hour check in is no longer possible. Besides, the need of an Internet connection to play a game like Skyrim, just an example, seems odd to me.
That said I do feel sorry to dedicated MS supporters with the loss of some of the features like family sharing. Honestly, that sucks. However, I'm confident that MS will find a way to incorporate what they had to remove some day down the line.

Just a heads up, MS is dropping Indie games. Just remember to take that into consideration.

OP, we share the same thoughts. Although I also would have enjoyed the benefits the DRM policies would had offered, I am glad to see them removed. As I buy most of my games on demand already, I shall have no problems using the console to it's full potential (the only games I can see myself buying a physical edition are games I pre-order, such as [i]Destiny Limited Edition[/i] or [i]Halo 5 Limited Edition[/i].) I believe one of the comments below me said something along the lines of "Xbox One is a more expensive version of the PS4, but with worse hardware." ... Well, Playstation 3 had better hardware than the Xbox 360, and that didn't stop it from being superior. I digress, but new, exclusives titles like [i]Ryse: Son of Rome[/i] and [i]Titanfall[/i] interest me more than [i]Knack[/i] and [i]The Order: 1886.[/i] But this is the opinion of an anonymous Internet user, and is viewed with harsh criticism. What could I know but only what I feel is more beneficial for myself?

21 RepliesPeople are now changing back because the Xbox is finally the exact same as the PS4! Except the PS4 has better hardware and is cheaper! People are insane, and for those of us who didn't mind the 24 hour check-in have now lost the ability to digitally, via the cloud scroll through our close friends game library's and also need to have the discs in the trays again to play them! I swear, I hope that all the kids that complained about the changes causing this flip-flop by MS have there discs stolen, broken or lost. Then lets hear them whine about what could have been!

I'm honestly a little annoyed that any of this had to happen. It just goes to show that Internet needs to be much more easily accessed and must get better in order for gaming to move forward on consoles.

3 RepliesSo, a side question i wanted to throw out there: The X1 uses your old xbox 360 account, achievements and all carry over, since there is no backwards compatibility between the two systems (total let down) can my xbox profile/account go back and forth between 360 and the X1? Also, Destiny won't be coming out until next year, any GOOD games coming out around the time the X1? Do you know how lame it would be to be stuck with a 360 and all of it's amazing games, and an X1 with NOTHING good to play? I'd want to go back to the 360, and that may not work since I just transfered my profile over to the baron X1 :(

If Microsoft provide an option for the Xbox without the Kinect then I'd consider it..... but they say Kinect is mandatory so I'm out. Just can't be bothered paying extra money for something I won't use.

1 ReplyI went from Day One PS4 to undecided. The DRM U-turn certainly takes away everything I found absolutely repulsive about the Xbone. Now the question is whether I want to swallow another $100 just for Kinect ... I think I'll end up with both consoles within 3 years of launch.

We live in a age where its a necessity to have a decent internet connection, if it was always online, connecting to the cloud, maybe games like destiny, the division, could have more content and actually be evolving with no downloads.

That was what was holding me back. Microsoft saved it. I still think the PS4 is cool, but I'm going for the XBO now.

I want one now too but I'm going to wait a few years to get it because my dad bought a new 360 and I'm probably getting a ps4 first but I cannot wait for the xbox one now Sony needs to look out
