I suspect that "nothing is ever lost, only hidden from view." With that said, IF there is a edit history, I would imagine that the web-team would reserve the ability to view-review it. It's a control thing.

    Agreed, but it can still help clear confusion. I don't know what the advantage would be for that feature to only be available to the web team. Once someone posts a comment or thread, they're already accepting the fact that their thoughts will be public. Therefore, I don't see why editing the post should hide their original ideas. It also stops users from posting "lol what did the OP say b4?"
