Anyone with moderate metal working skills can make a far more reliable and functional firearm than one from a 3D printer.
This is a tempest in a teapot, a distraction, and anyone who would print and use such an arm would be at as much risk (if not more) of injury than anyone who they attempted to fire at.

I think the idea is that not many people have metal working skills, and this gives those with no skill the ability to create a weapon cheaply.

3D printers are not cheap. the "weapon" that this creates is more of a danger to its user than its target. Someone who is intent on "getting a weapon cheaply" only need ask around on the black market. This is a non-issue and a distraction.

Indeed.

i wouldn't think it was safe, but it is a single shot before reloading. the metal was the casing and the firing pin. supposedly, it glocknaded under 5.7x28mm pressures
