Housing and Your Spacecraft: How to Combine the Two

Housing and Your Spacecraft: How to Combine the Two I’ve seen numerous threads that have asked if the player will have access to private property in Destiny. We know for fact that each player in Destiny will have access to their own personal spacecraft. Will this vessel serve the sole purpose of moving us from point A to B, or will it provide us with more? As a customizable spacecraft is something we know we’ll have at our disposal, why not make it serve a greater function; as a Space-RV. Your Spacecraft: When the player first unlocks access to interplanetary travel they are granted a small, rinky-dink starship. This starship has some storage, a weapon, and that’s about it. It’ll give you room to store your goodies, and if push comes to shove, you’ve got defenses. While this pathetic excuse of a ship might suffice for some, most people would like to create a ship that is unique and powerful. As you earn currency and valuable loot, you can purchase or trade for ship upgrades. These upgrades would include improvements to your weapons, armor, and storage; as well special features like a medical or crafting interface. Players would also have access to different ship parts and paint jobs, in order to create a vessel completely unique to their character. What if I Want to Share My Home or I Need a Guild Base? Well, there may be a way to house you and your battlebuddies! As players form and expand their guilds, the guild leader has access to larger spacecraft. Once a clan reaches, let’s say 10 players, the leader can purchase a ‘Cruiser’ vessel. This initial Cruiser vessel would resemble that rinky-dink starship you got in the very beginning of the game. It would be lacking in the hardware department, but it could get the job done. However, with a larger ship comes a larger array of upgrades. Ship upgrades for the Cruiser could include: Better weapons, a cargo bay, a complete med-bay, a communications array, an armory and a hangar. Players could dock their individual starships inside the hangar of the larger Cruiser, and explore their guild’s Flagship. As the guild expands, the Cruiser can be upgraded with barracks, a larger armory and cargo bay, as well as an expanded hangar. Obviously upgrading these cruisers would be too costly for one player to afford, so every member of the guild would have to chip in to afford these expensive upgrades. Although helpful, some upgrades may not be necessary for every clan, making each ship unique. What Do You Think? So how would you feel if a system like this were implemented? Would you prefer there be two separate systems; one for housing and one for you ship? Please feel free to share your thoughts below.

 • Being able to name, give a purpose, and customize a clan, and a clan base or outpost of some sort would be incredible. If you create a ship, maybe you are given a large ship that will be the hub of your clan. Clans with large followers, high success rates, and funding(Some in-game economy-not like EVE). Maybe a clan is large, but is not funded well and has low success rates has a massive ship that is poorly equipped might get ransacked by a smaller, more elite group with a decent sized war-ship capable of taking heavy hits and hitting even harder. As a clan leader, you may be alone as dictator or share the power with a few people(For decisions and advancement). Perhaps you are a friendly clan who protects and aides others, and so your ship doesn't need to be a weapon of war. Maybe you have amassed a huge clan, have substantial funds, and elite level players, and you are dedicated to eradicating your enemies and raiding, and so you have a giant dreadnought-like ship that others can dock into. It has powerful weapons, and your clan is large enough that you always have people aboard. Everyone of any rank, level, experience, etc. can create a clan. Not just an internet site and getting together with friends on the game, but an actual in-game clan system implanted in the inner-workings of Destiny. The founder of the Clan would obviously have power over the clan; If this player so chooses, the system allows for the said Guardian to elect advisers-if you will. The clan leader would then choose a title for the ruling character. Monarch, Patriarch, Warlord, Overlord, etc. Gender, class, and personal choice could potentially have a role in title. Maybe instead of choice, it would be a ranking system; The larger or more efficient your clan gets would grant you a new title. Clan leaders would also be given a new ship separate from their personal ship. A hub-center for the clan; These ships would be large and powerful, but vulnerable, especially in the beginnings of a clan. The first stage of this "mother-ship" would be a raged ass ship with potential for troop capacity and the ability to have other ships dock in it. Armor on these dreadnought like war ships would be thick but cheap; Meat another more advanced clan, and you are toast. As your clan evolves, by either gaining more Guardian's, having high efficiency, or spending a large sum of your in game economic budget on your headquarters, even all three of those. Maybe you have a large amount of people, but use your budget for weapons and yourself instead. Now, let me not misguide you. This in game economy is not based on real money. It is not like EVE. Not at all. Your budget is the amount of credits you have earned. Anyway, what about the initiation of clan battles? Well, maybe a clan decides to raid a world at the same time as another, or they just decide to duke it out so they can battle over supremacy. This is Bungie's gift to Battlefront fans. It would play out much like the old flame of a game, two opposing forces fighting each other in space. Players would use their personal ships to fight, alongside fighters provided by the mother ship itself. In the events that a battle is one sided, the victorious clan can raid the opposing capital ship. Mother Ships can be damaged but not destroyed; Upgrades will not have to be replaced, but damage must be repaired. If the raid is successful, and all NPCs and players are defeated, then they gain control of the new ship. The defeated clan will be forced to relocate the ship if they don't want to buy a new one; Upon retrieving it they are able to relocate immediately to prevent attack. Unlike enemies, they always know where the ship is. If a battle is even or a stalemate, after some time both mother ships recall all Guardians and jump to a random location(You are given 10-20 min. to destroy all opposition). Now, the Clan system is not forced, and merely an option. Very substantial for PvP nut not random encounters and PvE. I would also love to be able to spawn on the ship(theorizing that we normally only spawn in friendly zones on a planet or in the Traveler). When two clans fight, you can see both mother ships in the background as people take their personal craft to battle; If the first battle is completely one sided, the advancing team has a chance of raiding the other mother ship. Mother ships can't be destroyed, but they do have to be retaken, and clan leaders will have more trouble rallying their clan to attack. Let's say it's retaken, the victorious clan can jump to a random location to regroup, even with enemies aboard(These guys will no longer have the option of spawning on the captured ship). If it is even, both mother ships jump to a random location and regroup.
