OK, I think we need to define persecution. Too many people in the theist/atheist debates think it means something it does not.
Most times either side is voicing an opinion of the other. Is having and/or voicing that opinion persecution?

If I decided I disliked polka-dotted people to the point that I went out on the street and protested them, debated them, and perhaps even got into shouting matches with them that is not persecution. Now if someone listened to what I said and took action and started a group that went around and beat up polka dotted people and lit flaming P's on their lawns or passed legislation limiting rights etc.. that would be persecution.
