What the hell is The Didact talking about?
Halo amateur here. But in the first scene with the Didact what is he talking about?

Simply put humans were ment to claim the mantle, and when the didact awoke he was suppose to support them. Of course he didn't, and done what he saw fit. We learn in the last of the forerunner books that he was corrupted by the gravemind and turned out into what he is.
