Actually it's impossible. > Display Name > Unique ID > Custom/Halo Avatar > Join Date > Follower Count > If you personally "follow" the member Any of these are quick indicators of detecting "impersonation" of other users. The best part (that I love) is that you can find out most of this information by simply clicking on a users display name that gives you an information box about their profile (without even visiting their profile page). Unique ID's are Unique among all members here. No two can be alike. Now with the new follower system, say I follow the "real" account. When I click on their display name, I get a checkbox next to "followed" indicating I follow them. If the said impersonator doesn't have that, than obviously they aren't who they say they are. Do what you want, but it's actually incredibly easy to distinguish "fake" accounts from "real" ones.

 • Display name and avatar is really all you need. If some people don't click the username, or even if their ID's are similar, they could mistake the user for someone else.

 • Then that's in their own right and is entirely their choice. I'm simply showing these are all simple ways for users to detect legit/fake accounts from each other. But it's no where near possible for people to actually impersonate others.

 • Except it is, and unless someone clicks their name, they'll never know.

 • And... what's the problem? Refer to Recon's post in this thread. Say someone impersonates you. They make jerk posts and rile up a bunch of people to hate them, that account gets reported possibly even banned. Guess what? Nothing happens to your account.

 • Not my point. My point is how easy it is to impersonate, which I defended.
My point is how easy it is to impersonate
Go ahead and impersonate me then if it's so easy. As I've already proven, no, it's impossible. My point is if people choose to be ignorant and base someone's account on their display name and avatar picture alone - by NOT checking the other information I already listed - that is their own choice and they can make that call. Your "impersonation" method relies on users not checking that "other information". I choose to check this information like join date, follower count, unique ID, because it's literally 1 click away for me to do so. I'm able to complete this process in about 4 seconds. The choice is yours.

 • So I shouldn't be able to know that everyone is who they say they are, I should have to click their name to make sure? Every time? I could go and impersonate myself right now and no-one would know unless they checked all that stuff.

 • You remind me of the booty warrior. But no, I understand your point, and I think you sort of understand mine, but you're not getting the entire picture or you're just ignoring it. I'm saying if you don't check the ID, then you'll never know who is different. It's that simple. If you do check the ID, then you can determine who is who. So my point stands. You can impersonate someone.

 • It's because you're thinking about it. Most people aren't thinking about it. Is someone going to click the profile of every poster to figure out whether or not they are an imposter? No. In-fact, it doesn't even come across most people's minds, making it rather effortless to impersonate someone who doesn't have an avatar accustomed to their Spartan/Elite or emblem, Because most people won't think about it.
