The ultimate question..

Do you want Destiny to have friendly fire? I do. I prefer my game with a certain level of realism. I'm not one that goes through and team kills, but it bugs me when I see things like a stray rocket hit a team member and it has no affect on them.

  • This would just enable all of the gaming trolls. No thanks.

  • Since as a guardian you're a devout defender of humanity your level could be tied to your "humanity" which you lose a little of each time you kill a fellow guardian. Kill 2 or 3 and you lose so much humanity that you regress a level (you do not get to reallocate your skill points, they're locked, but if your new level is lower than what is needed then you lose the ability to use that skill until you level back up. This is also true for any items whose requirements you no longer meet). This would allow friendly fire, discourage trolling, and give a realistic/lore based consequence for intentional/unintentional for killing a fellow guardian outside of PvP.

  • In private areas, yes. I think you and your fireteam should work together tactically so nobody gets killed. That's reasonable. In public spaces, no friendly fire. I can't control the actions of goofballs that get matched up with me during a public event. In competitive multiplayer, yes to friendly fire ONLY IF THERE'S A PUNISHMENT SYSTEM. We have absolutely zero details on competitive multiplayer right now, so I'm gonna hold off on this. We need to know more. Due to my split decision, I didn't take your poll.

  • I say yes because of the realism. Destiny is a big place and you should have no problem going somewhere else if someone is just doing it to be annoying.

    • I guess yes, but there should be something to hold people accountable for their actions. Perhaps we could have the option to "mark" someone as being a known team-killer for a certain period of time. So if it's truly an accident you can just laugh it off and let them go on their way, but if it were clearly intentional friendly fire you could leave a warning for other players.

      • The only thing I have to say about this is a lv 50 going around killing lv 10s and what not. The v 10s couldn't defend themselves, and it'd take another lv 50 to beat him. Whereas I like realism, I don't like trolling. The only way I'd like it is a ban system. A bounty system just won't do enough to ruin the trolls fun before he can run before other lv 50s get there.

      • Sure but with a penalty everytime you kill someone. Player-killers should be labeled as a bounty for other players to hunt for a prize for an hour while they're online. If it was a mistake, the player who was killed could have a forgive option, so that the bounty could be called off. That way you'd get to have FF and more realistic shooting, but it would discourage the assholes who just want to kill others.

        • Friendly fire encourages smarter and more thoughtful combat. I can't imagine intentional friendly fire getting out of hand.

          • No because people would abuse it. If there weren't assholes out there who would do it just to piss you off them I would be all for it.

          • Yes and no. Yes because I want the game to be realistic (and to kill my friends after they decide to steal whatever), But also no, so that I am not constantly killed by others. Also, so I can use my friends as walls to fire rockets at and kill near by enemies.

          • With as many people running around in a fire team and 1/2 of those people might be spraying rockets around every where, it might be 1 big betrayal after another

          • There is one issue with friendly fire and that is other people. I would say a good 10% of people (going by playing many online shooters) are for want of a better description silly little boys/girls who would enjoy nothing more than to completely spoil your gaming experience by going around shooting you for no other reason than there own selfish entertainment. I would imagine (online) you would not have the option to turn it on or off as these options would have to apply to everyone. So Bungie needs to think on this as it's a bit of a game changer.

            • Friendly fire is realistic and all, but I hate it when people run up to the enemies and start getting in the way. I may as well shoot both of them.

                • I'm all for it in a game liek Halo, but do you know how annoying it would be in an open world game liek Destiny? That'd be liek playing Halo campaign and a random person you're not playing with can come along and betray you.

                  • Yes but to an extent. if some one does X amount of damage in X amount of time they are probably trolling and FF should be disabled.

                  • Invincible When In Vehicle ^^ Other than that, 4SniperBetraying I only have had in Reach...because of the easyness to use the Sniper. I understand the negativity Trolls, but I would have to go with a solid yes, I'm not sure if, when your in a group of some sort, if you Die or go down, and teammates Revive. It's better than CoD doorway blocking for example. but on the other hand, I do feel the people who would get upset. but the funny things that happened in Halo for me WITH FF on were just So many & so Hilarious. that I would tear, if FF is not implemented....perhaps with a system of some sort I can't devise :S xD

                    • I think friendly fire will be fine for destiny because of the different classes. like if someone wants to betray you, the classes each of you are might stop him. a hunter and warlock might want one shotgun, but the hunter knows the warlock can just cast a magic missile or something and destroy him. and the warlock knows the hunter can run way faster than him, and make off with the gun without getting killed, so neither of them will want to start anything. but we don't even know how gun drops will work in destiny so it's hard to make good examples for the betrayal aspect and what qualifies as a friendly? what about factions? what about random strangers?
