Why do people find government-operated inside jobs so ridiculous?

Why do people think that the U.S. government would never stage an attack or tragedy of any kind? The U.S. government already has bloody hands. So what is stopping them from staging a tragedy like that in order to further their regime? As long as they don't get caught, they won't get any flak from the people and can use the aftermath of the tragedy to their advantage. Anyone who tries to expose the truth regarding such an event will either be considered a lunatic conspiracy theorist by the general public or will be silenced by the government. The government can do anything to get what they want as long as they don't get caught and their higher ups are willing. So why is it that so many people think that the government would never do such a thing? Why do people think that a government-staged tragedy is such a taboo? They have already done terrible things. The government is not the pure and just operation that many people think it is. Human life isn't as important to the government as most people think. I am not saying the recent shootings in the U.S. are staged. I am not saying that 9.1.1 was an inside job. I am not saying all conspiracy theorists are telling the truth. I am just saying that the government is very capable and could very much be willing to do such things and thinking that they would stage a tragedy of any kind should not be such a taboo.

  • I don't find it ridiculous, I just don't care all that much.

I wouldn't say that they necessarily would not stage a false flag operation, but "wouldn't do it in any particular circumstance" isn't the same as "wouldn't do it in this particular circumstance". I don't see how support or international justification for an invasion of Afghanistan is nearly enough of an incentive to commit terrorist attacks of such a magnitude. In fact, I don't even see how it could be an incentive without an already established threat of terrorism on that scale, which is exactly what the attack demonstrated. So, would the American government kill American citizens if it stood to benefit greatly from the aftermath? Sure, I can believe that would be possible. Would they kill scores of American citizens (and take on all of the risks to exposure that must surely come with amplifying a false flag op by such a magnitude) just to be able to prevent people from potentially killing (probably fewer) scores of American citizens in the future? No.

Because they make a lot of assumptions, and ask a lot of questions that don't have specific answers and use that as proof that it was a government cover-up. Besides, if the government was competent enough to pull off something like that, surely they'd quickly silence the people who start to dig into it.

      • I doubt many people are under the impression the government isn't capable of conducting false-flag attacks...I think they're just banking on trust that the government would never harm citizens (or anyone else) to orchestrate a massive lie against the population.

A lot of conspiracy theories take random instances and string them together to try and make something convincing. Like chem trails, it's been proven that there's no such thing, but people will still refute the evidence and cling to examples of birds falling out of the sky due something like wind pressure change and say that it's just a government coverup for chem trails. Can you see why I have trouble believing in conspiracy nuts?

        • It doesn't matter. They've done a great job making anyone who questions the official story look like a nut-job. Even though some of the conspiracies have evidence in support of the claims.

            • I don't find the idea of them absurd, but rather the specific examples which have I have seen presented. ie 9/11, Newtown, JFK, etc.

            • I find them ridiculous because this country is so full of tack-smart watchdogs like OP, the government would never be able to get away with such shenanigans.
