The galaxy shields us from radiation as it moves through space, but our solar system also moves throughout the galaxy, and every 65 million years or so we are just peeking out exposed to pockets of radiation in space.

No, I'm aware of the solar system movement you're describing, but there's a lot of evidence in favor of the comet theory. Could you cite the "Every 65 million years we are just peeking out" statement?

I'm not saying the comet wasn't devastating, but to cause a full extinction? That's doubtful. Unfortunately I got that information from a documentary, let me check online to see if I can find it.

Oh, no, I understand that it was a number of factors, but the comet was a giant kick in the teeth to Earth's biosphere.
