So Spaceships
So here's to hoping that flying in space isn't just a loading screen to an area, hopefully since the whole space battle in Reach was really awesome. Hopefully Bungie has been working on space flight concepts in game otherwise ships are gonna seem pointless.
What' does every one else think.

I'd Like to be able to fly the ship and to be able to use it as like a mobile Hub - something like the Normandy in Mass Effect but on a much smaller scale. How cool would it be to host a meeting / pre-op brief in your own spaceship [i assume since you can buy other models you can furnish your own ship too, at least to some degree]. I liked the space battle in Reach, it was awesome but I what makes it so great is it doesn't overstay it's welcome. Using them every now and then in the story / campaign will be cool. Having an option to be able to dogfight them would be even more awesome - so that the fly-boys can fight it out without stepping on the toes of everything else that will make Destiny awesome.

flight combat is all well and good but im no pilot. what I am thinking of it how you can implement the ships into surface combat if Bungie is even thinking about that which I hope they are. I mean imagine. You are in a heated fire fight with little chance of getting out alive but you see a squadron of ships flying overhead. You call for an airstrike and the birds in the sky are happy to rain hell down. Such interventions from pilots would be really helpful not to mention, it would be amazing to witness.

3 RepliesEdited by tastyjerk: 3/23/2013 6:43:54 AMI'm pretty confident that you'll at least be able to fly the ships yourself, and if you can fly them, you'll probably be able to fight them like in Reach :P They've already confirmed in interviews and the Mail Bag that you can buy different ships (plus, different ships in the ViDoc) and my reasoning is this: Since they give you the ability to even [i]have[/i] a ship, and they let you buy [i]other[/i] ships, and they give you the options to make your ship even [i]cooler,[/i] Bungie [i]KNOWS[/i] you're not going to want to just admire it in a "garage" or use it simply as fast travel. You're gonna want to fly that sucker, and you're gonna want to have space dogfights with that sucker. I just don't see any other possibility :P

4 RepliesPretty sure you ca use ships to fight because I read in a Joystiq article that one of the Bungie representatives said interesting encounters with others will occur upon recieving the question if space battles will be an in-game feature. Other evidence for space combat I got from the same article. The reporter wrote he was told of a situation where someone met their friend at "The Tower" and proceeded to"The HANGAR" so that they could embark on their quest. The reporter goes on to elaborate that the person noticed their friend had been doing well in competitive because he had bought a new ship. Since you are able to buy new ships i'm pretty sure you can fight people with them.
