5 RepliesIf you(or yoko Ono for that matter) actually gave a half a shit about the well being of even a single person, you would realize that instead of doing anything gun related, the first step in the US would be reforming mental healthcare. The overwhelming majority of [i]preventable[/i] gun deaths are from people with serious mental health issues, like John Lennon's killer, or the newton shooter. The key to prevention is not removing a method of killing AND defending, but is in fact taking better care of the people who have psychological issues that would drive them to violence. If their issues were recognized, and they were given proper treatment and care, tragic mass shootings and other like incidents would sharply decline. Further, yes, I know this is bait, but I'm really getting tired of your shit lonepaul. You traipse through these forums, blathering your ignorant, anti-American garbage bringing on moronic flaming and arguing. Gun Control is a ridiculous issue though, there is no problem with people having guns. I love collecting weapons and like to go shooting occasionally with my friends and family, it is a fun sport.

The crossbow was once "banned" by a Pope for being a "weapon of mass destruction" but I really doubt highwaymen and bandits cared much about what popes and kings said. Conflict is not new. If law-abiding citizens are prevented from effectively defending themselves and others, they are unnecessarily vulnerable to violence. There are probably areas with high gun crime or large populations where some firearms may not appropriate to possess, but unilaterally banning firearms is unwise. Areas that have issues with gun crime need to address the problem locally, perhaps by changing laws or by increasing law enforcement; that's for them to sort out. Water usage is a serious issue in Arizona; not so in Arkansas. What is a problem in one place may not be in another.

The gun folks never did realize, that it's not the guns themselves, it's the people behind them. The people that don't care about the consequence of killing another person, and taking a life. The people who became so twisted and warped in their own heads that they now saw this as a good idea. Modern society is sick, with people like I said above. But it's not just these people either. It's the parents and friends who never saw the behavioral changes, the attitude changes, and all that, because they themselves are sick in their own way too. They're distracted and fractured, disconnected if you will, because of all the distractions and various desensitizements that have been brought down on people as a whole because the type of environment and media they've been exposed to over the last few decades. It's not the guns. It's society. You want to make any difference, you have to look at the real issue. And nobody even has yet. They're all so very blind. Wakey wakey eggs n' bakey folks.
