Destiny NEEDS an "M" rating

I know that often times, developers and gamers alike don't really care what the rating on a game is, but from what I've heard (all speculation of course), is that Bungie is aiming for a "T" rating for Destiny. If this is the case, which I hope it isn't, it will be a huge mistake. The story for what Destiny is claiming to be, cannot be done justice if Bungie doesn't allow for the grit, violence, language, etc that would come with that setting, it can't be believable. If the world is almost completely wiped out, and the human race is having to fight several other species in a last ditch effort to survive, you better bet that there will be "F bombs" dropped, there will be people being shot (meaning decent amounts of blood), etc. Bungie, please, don't let yourselves be held back by a rating in order to get more sales. Make this game an "M" rated game. Anything less would be simply uncompelling and unbelievable, and would really detract from the story and mood that would be present should this situation in this game ever really happen.

  • Do you ever wonder how Reach and 4 were rated M? I mean it feels right but you know there's blood and violence in many T games.

  • They need to rate it T. I would feel so bad if I couldn't play a game I have been wanting for over a month.

Couldn't agree more. I notice that most E- and T-rated games these days feel like they'd had minimal effort into them; that's probably why the most successful ones are rated M. And Destiny sounds like it couldn't be anything but an M-rated game. I just hope Bungie doesn't restrain the cursing and violence like they did with Halo. I love the games, both by Bungie and 343i, but Cortana needed to call people bitches more often. Made me laugh when she called Halsey that.

    • Your opinion is understandable. I don't believe games need to be "M" rated to get the point across. I don't like "M" rated games. If Destiny is rated "T", I'll purchase a PS4 just to play it.

    • I agree on that, they made destiny M for Mature, usually science fiction violence. Some where MA for Mature Audience, I didn't agree on that but it was done. They lowered the violence and made there be almost no swearing,( they say arse which is swearing in Australia ) This is so younger audiences can play, I thought that this was a great idea from bungee. Please don't stop making it less violent and don't stop keeping the swearing to arse! If you do I won't be playing and you won't have our money! do you want less buyers. if I'm the only one who does it, then that sucks but some others won't like the game and will give it back! don't add to your give backs!

      • I could care less what the game is rated. As long as the gameplay and story is intact, it doesn't matter if they don't drop a few F bombs. It would be okay too even if Destiny will be M, like Halo, but be just for a little bit of blood and characters occasionally saying son of a banshee.

      • Course language and gore often detract from the overall story and are often used as cheap gimmicks. The overall feel of the game is meant to be dark yet hopeful. I think too much gore would result in a less hopeful enviroment. Please do not use the word need it is the esrb's decision not yours. Ifeel as if their needs to be a new rating for games like halo that between cartoony teen games and ultraviolent gore M games.

      • Bungie, I think you should try to make the game teen so it appeals to more children, but at the same time, don't let it detract from the overall package. I hope it is t so my cousin can get it, he really wants Destiny, but is waiting for the ESRB rating. Desting is PEGI 16, so in the US, it should be T or M.

        • Don't make it m because then I know a lot of people who wouldn't be able to get the game if it was rated m. PLEASE TEEN.

Wow, I don't think I could possibly disagree with this post any more than I do. What did you think when watching Star Wars? "Yeah it's alright, but wouldn't it be more realistic if when Luke's fighting Vader he screaming DIE MUTHA-blam!-ER!" There's a certain irony to the "Mature" label attached to most videogames as all the violence and cussing is specifically designed to appeal directly to teenage boys who equate these things with being an adult. There are plenty of gritty, sweary adolescent fantasies out there. Go play COD and watch Michael Bay movies if you want 'mature'. I'll stick with Destiny.

            • Games rated M don't always have the "F Bomb" dropped. For instance Halo, Halo barely uses any vulgar language at all the occasional shit,damn,-blam!-,hell but still even then the profanity level is low, and you also don't need language to rated M the simple fact that the game has guns and there's killing can have it rated M.

halo standard is just right. halo should be rated T (although it's rated M) but that's the kind of standard i'd be expecting.

                  • Swearing especially in gta v really isn't that necessary master chief was practically mute and he was still my best character, I don't need cringe worthy scenes, even though they worked brilliantly in the last of us, all I need is a good story and an amazing perspective of that story through the guardian and I'm sure I will have fun.

                  • I agree with TroopuRR. a game doesn't have to have gore around every corner. How many great story tellers have had to use incredibly graphic descriptions of gore. next to zero. it isn't the gore and blood and death that defines a great game. its the story and characters that do that. Also I personally know many people that wouldn't be able to own this game if it ended up being rated M. if the absence of gore and cussing detracts from the story line then we have a serious problem in our society.

                    • I sorely Disagree. Language does NOTHING to add to the realistic nature of a story. Nor does it had depth to any setting or character. Nor does blood, gore, or violence. A great story, a believable story doesn't need any of this stuff to tell the story.

                    • I agree this way they can go deeper into the story have blood etc... it will allow a lot more leeway with the game in my opinion what do you guys think and feel?
