Does anyone play Star Ruler?

Star Ruler So I bought this game a few months back but never really started playing it and today I sat down to try to learn it. It is by far the most complex game I have ever tried to play. As a noob to the game I really have no idea where to start. Are there any general strategies? Should I design blueprints for ships before hand or do it on the fly as I upgrade things? Do I colonize like crazy at the beginning of the game or build up a big fleet before moving out? What is even considered a big fleet considering that the maps can be thousands of systems large? So many questions, any advice would be appreciated. I'll also be perusing the games forums from their site.

      • Yes i have that game is crazy at the options. I spent some time on it on steam. Playing the demo i thought it just had the starter ship set but you can make your own ships too. Getting far into it as i purchased it early allot more options now you can sorta make your own ships. Click the icons and you unlock stuff at the levels and make sure you level your tech while expanding. Also if you do not want to play forever with unlimited units make sure you do that in the start up Galaxy Screen. I like to use the alien options also to give my self good options when starting up a new one. The red boxes are things your race has a problem with like -1 Due to your people not liking computers. But you can take that and put it into a green box like example Colonize any planet +1. Just be sure to read the boxes and you can not only customize your race some what but add a description to it. In the end explore the options during start up and game play. Learn as you go. That game has so much to it that when i do play i learn something new each time and i improve. Just remember you can not only upgrade the ships you start with but make new ones in the blueprint section. Have fun!

      • Personally, The first thing I would do is Expand fast So I have cushion to Fall on, And then work on Fleet/upgrading my infrastructure, As more Resources = More ships/research. Anyways, I've yet to really delve into it, But as a Hard-core Sins of a Solar empire fan, this plan has always been failsafe with me, So it should be your best gambit in terms of End game results
