the number 1 piece of advice I'd give you, is [b]specialize.[/b] If you're anything like me, you want to it all--dabble in all aspects of development. But what a lot of industry people are saying nowadays is that studios, since they hire many people, is that they're not looking for a jack of all trades--they're looking for that one guy who's skills focus on one specific area. (modelling, animation, texturing, level design, etc.)
Credibility: I am a 2nd year Game Development student with professors from all around the industry, and they all hammer home the same point.
