We are acting as individual Radio Telescopes as part of a global array. Astronomers do this to to get very clear pictures of distant objects in our Galaxy. You can read more into it in the link. There may be more answers in the methodology behind using these arrays.

  • > In basic atronomy An interesting thing to note is Radio telescopes do not send out signals, they only intercept them. Also Radio telescopes can be configured in Arrays to have a dish size of hundreds of miles and even an entire planet.
