Games that triggered you emotionally

What games made you feel anything? At all? I'm talking about story, plot and such. Not it being to hard or someone online making you rage and you throw the controller against the wall. Mine being, I've never fully finished Slender: The eight pages, Out of the 7 times I've played it, 2 I have died with 3 pages and 5 quits after the first sight of him. That game on the link kinda gave me that "knot in throat" heartbreak feeling for a second and Borderlands 2 had a chill up my spine when.
Bloodwing dies and Angel is met.
Still haven't seen a game that made me cry, if anyone knows any that made them cry, I'd like to know which. I would gladly play a game that affected me that deep.

  • Spec Ops: The Line became incredibly emotional as you near the end.
Mental health deteriorating, watching your squadmates die because of your own mistakes... that game makes you think and feel. It was exceptionally well done.
• The most emotional moment in a franchises' game would have to be Doom's death in Gears of war 3.

  • Journey, Flower, FF13-2 (much to my chagrin), Shadow of the Colossus, ICO, Borderlands 2, MassEffect 2. No tears but lots of heart ache/sadness.

  • Playing Reach on legendary makes me want to throw my controller through my TV, does that count?

  • - The Metal Gear Solid series. - Shadow of the Colossus - Chrono Trigger - The Walking Dead - Spec Ops: The Line - Mass Effect 1 and 2 - The sub-plots in Mass Effect 3. The main plot was an insult.

  • I ALMOST tear'd at the end of Red Dead Redemption. GTA Vice City when
Lance betrays you
. Can't think of anything else at the moment.

  • Nier. That entire game is a compilation of sad events. The setting of the game itself is that you're trying to save your daughter in a world where humanity is slowly dying out. And it just gets worse from there. Ex: In the story you meet two young boys running a weapon shop. Sad #1:
Their mother is missing, and was last seen going into an abandoned military facility to scavange parts to scrounge up a living. You go into the facility to find her, and after fighting a boss, you find her corpse.
Sad #2:
You find her corpse with another man. She didn't go in the facility to save her children; she was there to elope with the man, using the facility to escape through the mountains, forever leaving her children behind. You go back to tell the brothers simply that she died, but the older one knew what she tried to do, and keeps it hidden from the younger sibling.
Sad #3:
Skip forward a few years. You see a cutscene of the two brothers, scavenging in the facility with parts. The younger brother goes into a dangerous part of the facility, accidentally causing a collapse. The older brother rushes in to save him, but gets crushed and dies instantly in the process. The surviving brother, in a frenzied panic, tries to pull his brother out, but only succeeds in pulling dead brother's arm out of its socket.
And that's not even the worst part. Not to mention the multiple endings themselves, which, BIG SPOILER
no matter how "good" the ending is, you will ultimately damn mankind to extinction.
• Reach was one. I actually shed a few tears at the end of Chris's campaign in Resident Evil 6 as well.

    • -blam!-ing Mass Effect. I got too invested in that game and then my feelings get destroyed (lol, destroy... *cries*). Besides that, Journey was amazing. I really felt something at the end.

    • Skyrim's main and faction questlines. Ranging from "I am the Chosen One. I must save the world in epic combat!" to "Wow, the Emperor's a pretty cool guy, but I've gotta kill him now, and he's totally fine with it. Bummer."

    • ODST triggered a few internal feelings - loneliness, isolation, damnation, despair, etc. Other games have given off that 'epic heroism' feeling, but nothing has made me sad or cry if that's what you're asking. Unless you count the indirect effects of multiplayer in Smash Bros/Halo. Then I could say those triggered rage

            • The Walking Dead. I really loved the relationship between Clem and Lee, by the end of the game I just really wanted Clem to be safe. I haven't been that attached to a game's story in... ever.

                Bastion SPOILERS BELOW!
The scene at the end if you chose to save Zulf. When you are carrying Zulf and the Ura are just unloading on you but they stop to let you pass was both heartbreaking and amazing at the same time. Bastion's beautiful and captivating soundtrack was really used perfectly in this scene to enhance the mood. I also thought the moral choice system at the end was very well executed because it really made you think about what was right. I sat there for 15 minutes thinking about what decision I should make.
• Spec Ops The Line. Im not sure what I felt during that game. A bit of hopefulness, and the feeling that shit won't get any better.
