The deaths of EDI and the Geth happen off-screen, and are a stupid, contrived consequence that only exists in an attempt to dissuade people from picking Destroy. They deserved better.

Contrived? Why would the destruction of all synthetics not result in the deaths of the Geth and EDI?

The Crucible has the power to A) Differentiate between Reapers and synthetics in Control B) Destroy all laws of physics by making the blasts so large and fast in scope that it's possible to see them moving from a distance away from the Milky Way C) Create a perfect synthetic replica/"hybrid" of the molecules that make up organic life and forcefully change everything's existing DNA into this replica/"hybrid" without causing any damage to them physically or psychologically, and spread through the galaxy using the physics breaking blasts throughout the galaxy And you're telling me it can't exclusively destroy Reapers?

As a result, it's inconsistent with Control, which controls the Reapers, but not all synthetics, despite both using the energy of the Crucible.
and are a stupid, contrived consequence that only exists in an attempt to dissuade people from picking Destroy.
100% agreed. Though it's still better than the waste of a life in Control and the waste of lives in Refusal. Let's not even go towards Synthesis. Just thinking about it makes me lose brain cells.
