Do you consider Windows 8 a flop?

Well, do you? I've heard nothing other than negative feedback from people who used it. So, what do you think?

To be honest, it's not bad at all when you have 2 screens, and use OblyTile. In fact, I prefer it over Windows 7. Windows 7 was actually awful when it came to multiple screens. Windows 8 is also much more optimized, and less resources are spent on graphics, because they've been simplified. Then there's the task manager. Love it. As long as you don't use any Metro-style applications with a mouse and keyboard, anybody who loves Windows 7 should love Windows 8 even more.

  • I might actually be getting windows 8 today.. My brother hates it with a passion and I need him to give me his future shop employee discount so it'll be interesting to see what he says when I get it. OT: It's certainly different and to be honest I really want to try it out and even if it was a flop its most likely not going to change back so might as well get used to it now.

Definitely not. It has its flaws, but it is easily the best Windows Operating system so far IMO. It runs faster and smoother than Windows 7 IIRC, it has more features, looks far better, and actually has far better background tinkering IIRC. There are ways to remove Metro, and doing that simply makes it a superior version of Windows 7, so people can quit complaining about Metro there (I personally like it in a number of ways). The main issue is compatibility, a lot of XP stuff isn't compatible, apparently. I know that one product I have, Battlefield 1942, won't work on Windows 8. Certainly not a flop. ------- There was a Forbes article once complaining about how "bad" Microsoft was with Windows 8 and other products, etc etc Ironically, out of the comment section, came a guy who knew his stuff, and he wrote 6 long comments that were better in the article. As long as nothing major happens, the general Microsoft strategy for Windows is going to play into their hands in a couple of years.

Personally, I like it. It's fine by me. Once you get used to it, it's more intuitive than you think. But that being said, 90% of all common Windows users will not like it, or be willing to get used to it. Regardless, I think from a business standpoint it's a flop. It has less market share 3 months in than Vista did in it's 1st 3 months. And Windows 8 had a bunch of stuff in it's favor to succeed where Vista didn't. First off, Vista came out at the end of January, and Windows 8 could rake in all those Christmas sales. Then, Microsoft had the upgrade price dropped to $40. If you can't beat Vista (business wise) with all that in your favor, I would think it's pretty clear it's flopped. I read an article about it today actually. (Attached)
