Should I Try EVE Online?

I've heard so much about this game and just how deep it could be. Is it worth giving a go?

Yes you should. I will send you a 21 day trial invite ( normal trials are 14 days ) And if you upgrade via credit/debit card or paypal I will get a reward and split the in game cash value with you ( about 270,000,000 )

Here's a short review to discourage you. 99% of the time your playing is going to be spent mining an asteroid. Transporting it to a base, rinse and repeat. While that is happening... your waiting hours/days/weeks/months (because that's how long it takes) to learn a new skill, so that hopefully, one day, you'll be able to get away from the mining business to be a fighter. The game is actually quite boring. The most boring MMO I have ever tried to play. Also keep in mind, that controlling your space ship is not intuitive AT ALL. It's almost all autopilot, no joystick control whatsoever. You can dbl click your mouse in some random blank space to get your ship to head in that particular direction though. But as I said, it would have been better if you could fly around with a gamepad or something. In other words, because of the way training works. By the time your ready to move on and try something new, the games says "No, you still have a month left to train for level 5 drones". etc. And there is really no way to speed that process up. EVE is a game of time invested, not skill. Here's a better TL:DR If you wanted to play an MMO that felt like a real job. You'd be better off just getting a real JOB!

    • I played the trial and I only got through the main tutorial but it seems like it has a lot of potential I like how player driven it is you could join a corporation and go up the ranks and take all their money if you wanted to and then they will all place a bounty on your head and you could be a badass the people with 1 billion dollar bounties did this and developers don't ban people for anything (except obvious modding) that happens to people so unlike WoW if someone asks you for stuff and you give it to them and they run off with it you can place a bounty on their head and people will hunt him down. There are about 8 different career paths you can choose and you don't have to stay at one you could mine, do assault missions, bounty hunt and if you could even make money through the stock markets if you wanted to.

    • It's immensely hard to get in to overall but you should do the trial, you'll either love it or you won't.

    • Do it! If you enjoy getting fully immersed in a game then it's actually fantastic. Don't expect constant action but you start to really live your character, know what I mean? I joined an alliance only like my second month in and ended up being their lead scout for scanning out wormholes and points of interest every day for other players in my corp who would then pay me for the co-ords and go and run them. Earned enough to buy a battlecruiser before I had to stop playing for exams.

    • Play the Trial, but know that you wont even come close to scratching the game's surface. In the meantime, i'll be waiting for Star Citizen to come out (check it out)

    • If you like beautiful graphics and spending tons of money being bored to tears and spending hours alt tabbing, then yes, definitely.

    • I've wanted to try this game for a while but I've never been a fan of monthly fees. Looks awesome though
