One of my biggest problems with Halo 4 is how watered down and devalued the Spartans have become. Spartan 2s were a precious resource, almost always in the field, never stopping. Spartan 3s were more plentiful, but they lived up to the Spartan names and were all great soldiers, also fighting all the time. Now, we have the 4s. There are so many of them, they can afford to just sit around and do nothing. You are a Spartan, Miller, not a desk jockey! Why are you and Palmer just sitting around doing jobs that any half competent person could do? There are too many Spartans, they aren't as important as they once were.

I think its a brilliant change. Shows how humanity are rising to become the top dogs. Spartans are no longer weapons, they are, as someone said (Halsey?), "the future".

They are mass produced products and the UNSC is all about quantity over quality.

They care about neither as long as they get their superiority across and of course, blow shit up. That's why they leave their eggheads and facilities poorly guarded.

But having a Spartan running Ops command? Why would anyone think that is a good use of resources? Miller is a soldier, and there is currently a planet full of angry aliens right next to the Infinity. Surely there is [i]something[/i] that he can be doing rather than sitting around doing what anyone could do.

Technically wouldn't Miller have heightened senses? So in other words his reflexes and time it takes to think of solutions would be faster than a normal humans.

Yes. However, Roland could do the job just as well. I haven't seen Miller do anything that would require heightened reflexes. He just lets you know that more enemies are coming in, some Phantoms are on approach, or that Roland is sending you some ordnance.

Yeah exactly he'd do better than a regular Human but we only really see him talking and not really doing anything.

Miller and Palmer are manning the Spartan desks which is clearly a more difficult job than manning normal desks, therefore they wear full battle armour. Makes sense clearly.
