Name your pros & cons (saying everything new is bad does not help)

As the title already says just posting threads saying "everythin is shit give me back the old forums" does not help anyone and hurts the feelings of the people that put hard work into the update. When you're doing this it is likely that many people including Bungie employees will just overlook your threads/posts and you loose your voice. So try do give some constructive criticism. Say what you like and what you don't like and before you post that you want something to be as it was before again think about why you want that and explain it. You can also make suggestions how to improve things, but you don't have to. I begin. [u]pros:[/u] - [b]tags:[/b] this is a good opportunity to customize your forum experience and have more options to sort the forums instead of just preset subforums and subsubforums - [b]notifications:[/b] it is very practical to be informed when someone replies to your threads/posts - [b]hide feature:[/b] good to let the annoying threads disappear (the use of hiding single posts isn't clear to me) - [b]reply to posts directly:[/b] no more quote pyramids + discussions about one specific thing stay at one place instead of being scattered over the whole thread - [b]follow function:[/b] very nice to keep track of things/people you are interested in (this sounds weird with people) - [b]being able to make groups more open:[/b] this is good as groups have always been very closed environments which can be good or bad. so it's great that you have the choice now - [b]change name:[/b] finally. I have waited for this so long. [u]cons:[/u] - [b]no subforums or sth. similar at all:[/b] tags being the only option to sort the forums is bad. they are abused or not used as intended and you have offtopic threads in your community tagged forums, community threads in your gaming tagged forums and so on. everything is mixed up and you see everything two or three times. [i]-> reduce the maximum amount of tags (maybe to three or four) and force the people to choose one and [b]only[/b] one official tag[/i] - [b]hide feature only applicable universally:[/b] when you hide a thread it is hidden everywhere and you can't really avoid tag abusing without hiding the thread completely[i]-> it would be much more useful if you can choose if you want to hide threads everywhere or just in i.e. #gaming tagged forums[/i] - [b]multiple reply layers/tiers:[/b] this is very annoying and not very comfortable to read. also these lines that pop up and should help to orient yourself don't really help. [i]-> reduce it to just one layer/tier and add a button on other replies to put an @*user* in your reply[/i] - [b]order of posts:[/b] new posts being at the top and putting posts at the top every time someone replies to it disturbs the reading flow and the natural chronogical flow of discussion [i]-> posts have to be in an old-to-new order and replies to posts must not have an impact on the order of the posts; a "go to last reply" and a "go to last post" button at the top of every thread could be implemented instead[/i] - [b]white background:[/b] it is hurting the eyes through it's brightness especially in contrast to the dark font and the dark background on the side -> [i]change the background in the middle to grey (not black) and the font to bright white (keep the background on the side as it is)[/i] - [b]design of single posts:[/b] the font and the avatars are too small, the segregation between the posts is too subtle and the original post time being hidden when a post is edited is confusing [i]-> make font/avatars bigger, add long bars over posts with the name etc. in it and make both post time and edit time visible[/i] - [b]default thread order:[/b] with the default option set to "popular" and "week" new threads that haven't as many likes and older threads are overlooked very easily which is bad imo [i]-> set default options to "latest" and "all time"[/i] - [b]the Addthis button:[/b] I'll quote myself from another thread: "It is ugly, it looks cheap, no one will ever use it, it prevents a nice and clean look" [i]-> remove it[/i] [u]neutral/uncertain[/u] - [b]mute option:[/b] I don't know.. on the one hand I can see it's benefits on the other I doubt that this is good for a fair discussion - [b]picture/video implemention:[/b] Well it certainly is fun, but it can get very annoying if every second post has a "view at your own risk" bar [i]-> maybe hovering over the bar should show you the link, but this wouldn't move this point into "pros" or "cons" either[/i]
