For Machinima, Do you prefer Halo 3 or Halo 4 graphics?

I've thought about this for a long time because I am a machinima maker but do you prefer the more cartoony graphics of halo 3 or do you like the grit and dirt of Halo: Reach/Halo 4? Personally, I prefer the look and vibrancy of Halo 3 because it suited itself to both fun and serious moments. The colors made it (noice!) to look at and people had fun making AND watching the machinimas. That being said, I think that Reach and Halo 4 have a lot of new toys to play with that allow new things to happen with machinima but the graphics are so 'realistic' that the color gets sapped away. I also liked how Halo 3 had a unique look to it. It made it stand out and it wasn't just a game in a race for realism. Like how people recognize Portal or TF2 for its looks or Borderlands for its looks, halo 3 was a game where people immediately knew what it was. Halo Reach and 4 have a bit of that but I believe that 3 was the most prominent and it seems that people recognize the newer games for their environments rather than graphics alone. I think it is cool that we can have graphics like you see in these new games because it shows how fare games have come but I have a problem when everything ends up darker and lacking color and I have to turn my brightness up all the way to get the most from it. These are my opinions only of course and I would like to know what you think. Maybe you don't make machinima but what do you think of the machinimas made with these different games? What do you think of the graphics' roles in gameplay?

Halo reach is easily the best for machinimas, It has 3 different game modes to record in and the graphics really work with the cinematic side of it. For comedies I'd say halo 3 can also work since the graphics/lighting are more light-hearted which helps relfect the mood. Halo 4 is simply awful for them, the graphics are too jagged and pointed, almost like halo 2 and the lack of decent looking armour and covenant enemies just hammers the nail on the coffin.

  • If we had these things we could make the perfect Machinima. 1. Halo 3 & Halo: Reach weapons/ vehicles. 2. Halo 4 graphics. 3. Halo Reach/3/4 armor. 4. Halo Reach Forging. 5. Halo Reach/3/4 maps.

    • Halo 4 was the best. Unfortunately, the level design wasn't that great, so we didn't get as good of a chance to see it's engine in it's true glory.
