If you mute a user, can they still see you?

Something I just wondered after muting someone. Can they see your posts? Would they be able to comment in your thread?

 • I couldn't help myself....
Posted by: Cryptic If you attempt to message a user that has muted you, a message in red text says, "We're unable to send a message to this user(s)." If you message a muted user, that user can view the message, but cannot reply back; the user remains muted. Muting a user does not remove existing conversation history for you or the muted user. Topics by muted users are hidden by default and can't be permanently un-hidden unless you un-mute the user. If you hide a topic, it appears collapsed with a link that says, "+ Hidden Post." This link lets you show/hide the topic temporarily. You may permanently un-hide a topic (that you hid manually) by first selecting Hidden Post to reveal the topic and then selecting the hide post button (this is a bug: it should say un-hide post). If you attempt to hide your own topic, you receive an error message that says, "Looks like you're trying to ignore yourself. While that's very postmodern of you, we don't allow that kind of thing here. Go talk to Ezra Furman if you wanna be ignored." Note that muted users may still view your topics. Posts by muted users are hidden by default and can't be permanently un-hidden unless you un-mute the user. If you view a topic that has a post by a muted user, there is a reveal button at the top that says, "Some replies have been hidden: show all posts." This link lets you toggle hidden posts on/off temporarily. The same message appears if you have manually hidden a post in the topic. You may permanently un-hide a post (that you hid manually) by first selecting show all posts and then selecting show on that post. Note that muted users may still view your posts.

 • Cryptic made a really good post about this but I don't want to go through my post history. If this were the old B.net I'd do it.
