Teenagers are the worst

I'm sorry, but it's true. No, I don't mean teenagers NOW, or that generation, or "kids these days"; I mean the years 13-19 in a person's life. I realize most of you are teenagers. Teens are some of the most needy, demanding, trying-so-hard-to-be-cool people there are, to the point where it's painful and cringe-worthy to see them interacting with each other in public. So much YOLO; so much SWAG. They're so blissfully unaware of their surroundings or how their actions affect other people. I wish I could blame it on tv, movies, or current culture, but the fact remains that I did that kind of shit when I was a teen, and so did my parents. How you you feel about teenagers?

    • I am a teenager (16) and I'mm very aware aware of my surroundings and how I can affect other people, unfortunately as you've said, the same cannot be said for many others and I find it extremely irritating.

    • This seems a tad biased. Not all teenagers "try hard to be cool" or "act needy and demanding" at all. Teenagers that "try hard to be cool" are ignorant, but that doesn't mean that all teenagers are ignorant. I've seen many times adults act more immature than teenagers. Ageing provides an opportunity for mental growth, but some people grow up faster mentally then others, while some never grow up mentally at all. I don't think mental and physical age are always the same.

    • Clearly you just miss the amount of swag you had as a teenager.

    • If it makes you feel happy I didn't have fun teenager years. I got put into situations that didn't match my age at the time and now I'm a cynical, dark humored bastard and I'm only in my 20s.

They disgust me too OP. I feel like 20 years from now I should make some kind of TV show or video game that's filled with dumb swag references, just to spite them as adults.

    • Meh. I don't consider myself superior because of my age. Either way, I loved my teenage years and not because of the stupid decisions, partying, etc but because it's great having no responsibilities, stress, and worries. I'm actually quite jealous of teenagers now.

    • I'm 18, so I'm still a teenager. Well, stuff that you do when you're young is what you'll remember as ''best memories''. So while I understand the SWAG and YOLO argument, I don't think we're the worst.

    • I'm glad I graduated from high school before the "YOLO" and "SWAG" mentality seeped too much into the minds of my classmates. I had a bunch of morons in my graduating class, but I can't believe how annoying some of the kids in the younger grades were. I'm glad that the dumbest thing that I did was refuse to shave my awful pedophile moustache for many months.

      • I must agree, I hate myself sometimes over stupid spur-of-the-moment choices. I also know a lot of the things I love right now I will hate later in life.

        • I'm glad I'm not one anymore. I was pretty stupid when I was a teenager, and I learned from my mistakes. When I look back, I can't believe that I did all the stupid things I did that almost got me killed. That, and now, teenagers are starting to get on my nerves. It's either they start drama, or start trouble now.

        • Maybe they wouldn't be so annoying if you had thicker skin. Who cares if someone wants to saw "swag" or "YOLO"? It's not like you have to listen.

        • I'm still a teenager(18), but I've hopefully left the worst of it behind me. Now I'm trying to be involved with the world. I never cared much for getting into politics, social issues(gun control, abortion, etc.), and admittedly I sucked ass at social interaction for a good majority of 7th-11th grade. I'm trying to rework all of that so by the time I'm 19-20 or so, I've actually made progress. It's a rough time period for most people.

        • ^OP. 1. Teenagers are at the point in life when their want for material wealth is increasing at a rate much quicker than their maturity, so it's natural that they're "needy" and "demanding". Teens change more in six years (ages 13-18) than they do in any other six year period of their life except perhaps maybe birth to 6. They're not like that for long. 2. What's wrong with wanting to have class in the way that you dress (the definition of "swagger", which can be shortened to "swag")? Looking good is an extension of the teenage (male) need for attention from the opposite sex as their sexual realization, want, and awareness is growing at a rate similar to their want for material wealth in relation to maturity. Guys want the V. Girls want good-looking guys. Guy makes self good looking via class and/or swag. Girl wants guy. Girl wants D. Guy gets V. 3. I think the study of teenagers is something that should be done more often. They can be some of the most insightful, innovative, and creative minds at times under the right circumstances. This is owing mainly to the perfect balance of flourishing maturity and a persistence of a childlike sense of creativity and carefree attitude. I feel this should be celebrated much more often than it is.

        • I'm 18, and while I admit that at times, I may be needy or demanding, I definitely do not try to be cool. Although it's probably no less cringe-worthy to watch me interact in public, simply cause I'm a bit awkward and not so good at conversing with people I'm not familiar with. Also, I may not be the most aware of my surroundings and other people but I at least TRY to be considerate of how my actions affect others.

        • Woah woah woah man, I'm 16 and I hate those people. Don't be throwing us all into one group. I dislike humanity and I don't care about social interation. I don't care what events happen because they are all the same, "Someone died; Someone became rich/poor; Weather taking a turn for the worse" To sum it up, I don't want to live on this planet anymore

          • Teenagers scare the living shit out of me. They could care less as long as somebody bleeds. So darken your clothes, or strike a violent pose, maybe they'll leave you alone, but not, me. Altogether now:
