I consider myself to be a bit of a history buff, it is one thing to hear our perspective on history here. But another from over there... Exactly what is taught on the other side of the world? Like what did you learn of the American Revolution? The Civil War, Vietnam, etc.

I didn't learn anything on American history. Although technically, you guys were the traitors.

Edited by Crackerjack: 1/16/2013 9:07:10 PMI'm not sure why people in other countries would be taught large amounts of another country's history in public education. I mean, I didn't learn difference between England,Great Britain, United Kingdom, and the common wealth in high school history.

Live in the UK. Learnt more American history than I did British history, and have done History up to A2 (highest non-university level.) Didn't cover the Revolution (learnt that in my own time so I'd appreciate AC3 more, shouldn't have bothered as the game sucked) or the Civil War (know the basics though). Learnt about the early settlers under the Empire, migration West, American-Indian conflicts and then covered pretty much everything American from 1890-1990. Wrote a big essay on the Watergate Scandal. Aware of modern America through geopolitics. Didn't learn anything about South America outside the USA try to get rid of Spanish influence in the pacific sphere, and not much about Canada.

American Revolution was when we fought off the Indians who were taking our land The Civil War I think that's when the south rose up and won Ah Vietnam that's when we went in there for like 6 months and split it into north and south Vietnam. I love history.

You have to shout.

I totally forgot what I learned in my history classes in Lebanon. But when I was living in Nevada I took the history of nevada class and it's like the most boring history in the whole world. Gets more interesting with the mafia later on but the whole gold, prospector stuff makes you fall asleep.
-
Here in the UK, I didn't learn diddly squat about Vietnam or the American civil war. We learned about British history like the Tudors, the Norman invasion ect.
-
From what I've heard they aren't taught much about the colonial era. Don't exactly blame them, not the most pleasant period of their history.

Edited by King Vendrick: 1/16/2013 8:31:40 PMThe only American History that I did in school was the Great Depression. We don't learn about the Revolution because, well it just isn't that important in our history. We don't do The American Civil War or Vietnam.

You might want to specify which side of the world you are on, first.

Edited by Jaaake AU: 1/16/2013 8:30:23 PMHere in Australia, we learnt... well... nothing about the American Revolution and/or the 'Civil War'... mainly because it's not really relevant. Touched a bit on Vietnam. A lot on WWII though.
-
The only American history I learned was the sexual revolution in the 60's and Vietnam.
-
Im sure they didn't learn about any of that at all. Probably just being filled with anti-american propaganda.

Edited by Chaz: 1/16/2013 8:29:18 PMWe don't learn about much american stuff. The only american thing I did was the 20s and the depression.
