An idea for sword turn into a bow

[Exotic Kinetic Hybrid Concept] Twin Wish Part 1: The Lore & Background I want to pitch an Exotic Kinetic weapon concept built completely around a tragic narrative framework that directly dictates the gameplay. It physically breaks apart and transforms from an aggressive obsidian executioner's sword into a multi-functional cosmic combat bow. Born from a tragic, forbidden Ahamkara wish in the Dreaming City, the entire kit acts as a direct physical manifestation of the bargain struck with Riven. "I—Sister—can feel—your pulse—the dark—is turning white—hold—the light—inside—the core—me—I am right here..." — Fused siblings Part 2: Visual Design & Aesthetics The Sword (Operated by the Sister's Dark Energy) The Blade: A jagged, heavy executioner’s blade made of dark, crystalline obsidian stone. It looks brittle yet incredibly sharp, encrusted with swirling charcoal-black Taken blights. The Guard: Forged from compressed, midnight-black Taken matter vibrating with a heavy dark gravity well. Bow Form (Transformed State - The Crossed Frequencies) Bow : When transformed, the obsidian crystalline sword blade physically splits cleanly down the middle, separating to form the outer dark limbs of a massive combat bow frame. The Core (The Riser): Emerging directly from inside the split sword is a core made entirely of blinding, pure-white Taken energy representing the brother's frequency. There is no physical mass here—just solid, radiant white light. The String: A taut, vibrating wire of kinetic Taken force connecting the two tips of the split sword blade. Part 3: The Transformation Animation (Holding [Reload]) Third-Person View The Stance: The camera pulls back instantly as the player slams the hilt of the sword down into an overhead bracing stance, channeling a heavy ripple of pitch-black Taken smoke around the armor. The Morph: A bright, blinding flash of negative white light rips through the smoke as the solid obsidian blade is seen physically dissolving and stretching outward into the floating orbital ring configuration. The Convergence: The twin frequencies lock into position as the player draws back the monochrome energy rails, anchoring a massive, glowing matrix of light and shadow right before snapping smoothly back into the active combat view. First-Person View The Fissures: Your Guardian hoists the obsidian sword into a central guard stance. Broad, jagged veins of pure-white energy instantly rip across the entire dark blade, vibrating with an echoing sound of tearing steel. The Shatter Split: With a deafening, metallic snap, the obsidian crystalline blade breaks cleanly down the center into two mirrored halves. The pieces do not dissolve; instead, they shift seamlessly outward to form the sweeping, geometric dark upper and lower limbs of a heavy combat bow. The Core Ignite: As the dark limbs lock into their new positions, a dense column of blinding, pure-white Taken energy bursts forth from the hilt, forging a solid, radiant riser right across the center of the weapon. Part 4: Sword State Mechanics (The Dark Taken Sword) This is the weapon's default state. It relies on aggressive agility, rapid slicing, and reality-bending movement to tear through targets. Light Attack (The Marrow Dance): A unique, ultra-fast 6-hit continuous combo that slashes at breakneck speed. Heavy Attack (Inverted Rupture): Slam the blade violently into the ground to send out a linear shockwave that neutralizes gravity, lifting enemies helplessly into the air and priming them for your bow. Guard Replacement (Blight Blink): Pressing the guard button completely removes the defensive shield. Instead, you instantly Blink (teleport) forward to close the gap on distant targets or dodge gunfire using Sword Energy. Part 5: Dynamic Charge Economy & Bow State Mechanics The Transformation Loop To activate the weapon's full potential, you must fill the Blighted Resonance meter to 100% using the sword state: Hits Only: Requires 12 total hits on targets to fully charge the bow. With Kills: Securing a final blow grants a large chunk of energy, dropping the remaining requirement by 2 hits. Holding [Reload] splits the blade apart to release the bow coming directly out of the sword, draining this transformation meter instead of your Special ammo reserves. Bow State: The White Taken Bow When transformed, the bow matrix operates directly from the weapon hilt. Hip Fire (The Fractured Volley): Firing releases a horizontal fan of 6 piercing white arrows that aggressively track your initial targets. Upon impact, every arrow ricochets off its target and takes flight independently into the air to autonomously hunt, cross paths, loop back, and strike secondary targets simultaneously. Aim Down Sights (ADS - The Singular Singularity): Achieving a Full Draw while aiming compresses the white energy into one massive arrow. Upon impact, it creates a white-hot vortex that violently pulls all nearby enemies into the epicenter, trapping and crushing them together. Part 6: Exotic Catalyst: Refracted Retaliation Unlock this upgrade by completing high-tier alignment calibration with the weapon. Perk 1 - Abyssal Harvest: Landing 5 consecutive hits on an enemy with the Sword state combo automatically refunds 1 round of Special ammo. Defeating powerful combatants with the Sword automatically generates bonus Special ammo bricks for you and your fireteam. Perk 2 - Inverted Snare: Firing The Singular Singularity when no targets are within active tracking or detonation range triggers a spatial snap. The fired arrows turn inside out, flying aggressively back into the weapon core to instantly refund 50% of the consumed Blighted Resonance meter. Stat Masterwork: Increases total Sword Ammo Capacity from 57 to 71. Grants +20 Sword Guard Resistance and +15 Bow Draw Time speed. Part 7: Lore Tab: The Cost of a Breath The Awoken girl stumbled through the Keep, her knees scraping against the pristine amethyst floors of the Dreaming City. Her arms ached, slick with the cold, uncooperating weight of her brother’s corpse. A shadow elongated across the chamber wall. Not a shadow of a beast, but a shifting mass of voices. Riven of a Thousand Voices, the last true Ahamkara, watched the weeping girl with a thousand mocking eyes. "He is cold, little Awoken," the beast purred. "The spark has left him. Why do you drag dust into my chambers?" "You have the power," the sister gasped, collapsing before the massive visage and clutching her brother's cold hand. "I don't care about the rules of the Reef. I don't care about the consequences. I wish for you to bring my brother back. Give him life again!" Riven’s jaws parted in a sickeningly wide grin. The bargain was struck. "A simple request, oh sister mine. You wish for him to stand, to walk, to breathe. But life requires a vessel, and his is broken. To weave him back together, we must use what remains." The sister didn't have time to scream. Liquid darkness spilled from Riven’s maw, flooding the chamber. The sister felt a horrific, burning agony in her ribs, her spine, her limbs—as if her very framework was being unzipped from her flesh. With a wet, echoing snap, her own bones were pulled out and discarded into the dark. In their place, the shattered, cold skeleton of her dead brother was violently shoved inside her skin to serve as his new foundation. "There," Riven whispered as the Taken corruption consumed them both, binding their souls into a single, twisted weapon. "He is brought back. The dark has claimed your flesh, little sister, to pay the toll. But your brother... he shall be the inverse. A soul forced back into the living world, turned completely inside out." Far behind them in the shadows of the corridor, Petra Venj stood frozen. She had tracked the girl into the lower keep, but she was too late. Her boots felt glued to the floor, her heart hammering against her chest in sheer disbelief at the grotesque nightmare unfolding before her eyes. The sister's dark Taken chest fractured forward. Two brilliant, ghostly white hands pushed out from within her body, reaching for the air. Petra watched in horror as the sister reach out and held his pale hands tightly, their fingers locking to stretch into a bow of blinding light. From the depths of the sister's dark flesh, his hollow, pitch-black eyes stared back. A cold dread washed over Petra, momentarily paralyzing her as she stared at the impossible, inverted figure of the brother emerging from within the sister's own skin. Shaking off the initial numbness, she raised her sidearm with a trembling grip, her eyes locked on the terrifying fusion of light and shadow. The sheer unnatural horror of the display left no doubt that whatever now stood in the chamber was no longer human. "Forgive me," Petra whispered, her voice tightening as her finger squeezed the trigger, ready to shoot them. But before the hammer could strike the casing, the air convulsed with a sudden, violent Taken tear. A flash of monochrome light blinded her for a split second. When Petra opened her eyes, the siblings were gone without a sound, having accidentally dropped the weapon in their hasty escape. The chamber was dead silent, the dragon's laughter fading into the mist. The only thing left behind was a breathtakingly macabre artifact resting silently on the cold stone where it had fallen. It was a flawless, terrifying fusion of dark and light—an obsidian crystalline sword encrusted with standard dark blights, secretly housing a pristine ribcage of radiant white bone hidden directly inside its core. The weapon pulsed with a heavy, dual resonance, humming soft Closing Thoughts & Dedication Thank you so much for taking the time to read through this concept.

  • I ain't reading all that, but why would it have to be an exotic? couldn't it be just another type of weapon, like the crossbows? the concept is neat but ppl wouldn't give up an exotic slot in favor of a bow or a sword, I barely see anyone using a bow and the sword is ALWAYS for jumping and NEVER for damage.. so I don't see the point.
