I just want to get this idea out there where maybe someone from bungie will see, but I thought it was pretty cool seeing all of the different species working together towards the end of D2. That, combined with fighting hive that dropped ghost shells you have to crush, could bring a new narrative and edge to what Destiny 3 could become.
Since we had enemies that could cast supers and wield the light why don't we switch it to where we can play as these species as well? Like in Skyrim and other big names, when you make your character you get to pick your species. On top of that you could choose either to wield light or dark (maybe prismatic as a 3rd option). This would come with abilities and perks that are specific to that character.
For Example it could look like:
Male
Fallen
Wielding Light
Perks: Bonus spin metal when completing activities
Bonus damage with Arc grenades and snipers
Abilities: Cloaking (Like when a Vandal goes invisible)
Shank Deployment (Call in a shank that can do various support abilities)
Solar Super: Uses the chain and lantern as a super weapon, kind of like the hunter strand super
Each character species would have a slightly different backstory or career missions to complete. This would show the player what happened to them and what gave them light/dark/prismatic. It could've been an event after the witness where every living thing was given these abilities (like a Thanos snap or when Korra opened the spirit realm and people became airbenders).
Factions could also be implemented more heavily giving bonuses in raids, crucible, and other activities giving things like bonus damage when fighting on their home planet or using a faction created weapon. This would bring the community together by making weekly or monthly competitions between factions that are posted in the tower. Competitions like most raid encounters completed, lowest average of deaths during strikes and the rewards could be specific to that month with a shader or weapon ornament.
I think it is important for us to rally as a community now that the wheel has started to turn and give Bungie a hand in what we want to see. It would be okay for us to wait and see if they can give us what we want considering how bad the ball was dropped, but Bungie is going to need some ammo to get Sony's backing. The better the pitch, the better the game, and the more funding they will get. It would be so awesome to see Bungie bringing in well thought out ideas from the community and players seeing their ideas come to life with the developers. The more hype the better.
"You're my favorite. Don't ever forget that."
