Had a break, came back, thought I’d go ahead and do the praxic stuff since it’s apparently the only viable barrier weapon at this point. Halfway through the tedious jumping puzzle that sends you back and forth I end up in a place that just leads me in circles. Did that a couple of times looking for a way out. Then I read online about people taking up to two hours to complete this solo blind. Then I just turned off the Xbox. Life is too short.

1 ReplyGame started going downhill numbers wise when they started with the horribly designed campaign boss fights like calus in lightfall, & the witness in final shape, & when they started adding exotic missions as part of the seasonal storylines. None of them are inherently bad or overly difficult once you get them down but bungie really overestimated the average destiny players ability & play loops. Young kids, & dads hopping on after a long day, just wanna get in & out, play the story, level up, & get some new loot. & the thing is, this came in year 8, after 7 years of simple story boss fights & exotic missions being hidden extras or bonus content you could do, or ignore. This pushed a lot of poor players away & I still remember lfg being full of guys asking for help stuck at calus or the witness. You can even go look right now, the majority of active players are guardian rank 7, blueballed by master conquest derealize, a roadblock that doesn't need to be there, far more difficult than the other master conquest & the 2 grandmaster conquests in rank 8. If you get a good group it's ok, but it's a pain point for a lot of players. Ex staff said bungie wanted destiny to end with lightfall, to free up players for marathon. All males a little more sense in that context

1 ReplyYou are right and this is big part of what went wrong with the game. It is also a big part of the problem with the director. No fun chill rewarding repeatable game.play loop. Just a far too difficult to have fun relatively boring and/or unrewarding forced gameplay loop.

If you are referring to the Ascendant plane platforming, I didn’t like it either. I had to stop for the evening and pick it up again later. I am terrible at jumping puzzles so I looked up a few videos and finally completed it. My goal was not the Praxic blade but rather unlocking access to the other weapons. Love it or hate it, Bungie has a way of enticing me to complete things I do not enjoy as much, but push through for certain armor and weapons. Comp is one of those but I have some really good weapons and armor because I played. Next I will try my hand at Trials which I have not played.

They did it good with Obilation. From start to finish that entire ordeal was excellent. It wasn't a part of the campaign, didn't block progress to ANYTHING.. was literally "bonus content".... To think their last mission was prolly their best, but many don't even know about it...crazy crazy crazy how all this ended...

1 ReplyGood thing is you'll never have to experience another jumping puzzle made by Bungie.

I don’t mind admitting that I checked a guide for that part. Not my preferred way of doing things but as you say, life’s too short. I was just happy to be able to complete the exotic mission solo. There’s been a few I haven’t done as I just found them too difficult.

1 ReplyEdited by Raiyu: 9/6/2026 12:12:52 PMBungie seem to have spent a long time in the office deciding how best to make their game as annoying as possible. They're allergic to giving it seems.

38 Replies"Im am horribly bad at the game, the game isnt holding my hand so the game is bad" Of all the reasons to quit a video game....you left because YOU GOT LOST ??? My god are you roronoa zoro ? And just saying...if you were taking so long to find your way...have you considered...idk...taking 2 min to look a soluce ? (Also i guess most of us are geniuses for figuring the path first try or second try)

The run takes about 30 minutes. I can help you if you like.

10 RepliesThis is why most people don’t try to blind solo things on their first clear.

3 RepliesSounds like you have a skill issue.

3 RepliesAll the jumping puzzles annoy the -blam!- out of me. Not sure why people like them so much.

6 RepliesThere is 0 and I repeat 0 doubt that certain sections of exotic missions and raids killed the casual base. I say that someone that has done them. However, every single time I thought to myself “ no way people who aren’t super invested do these. You have to have expertise as well “. So much of the game has felt like it was developed for creators to have content. I mean that completely

If you think thats bad, wait until your catalyst run bugs out and leaves you unable to get one of them.
-
So you told us that it's not a game for you.

20 RepliesThen look up a guide? You're complaining about something you can either participate in or take an easier way of approaching. And no, blind 2 hour runs are for completely dense people. If I can manage to solo the exotic missions on expert or above, you can too.

The majority of them are tedious. About the only ones I like are Avalon and Seraph Shield. I did like Fire and Ice, but I hated Heliostat, despite the location being cool, for the ridiculous radiation mechanic in the boss fight. As for Derealize, that mission I had to be carried through on Master Conquest. 🤣 I played it only enough times to get the (mid) Barrow Dyad and its catalysts and never set foot in it again, except for the Master Conquest. I refuse to help people with it too. I know it’s obvious, but watching a guide generally helps. Personally I don’t believe that these exotic missions should ever need guides. They should be combat heavy and mechanically light imho.

If you’d like help or anything I would be down to help you do the exotic mission👍🏻
-
Yeah, while I was doing that one I was 100% aware that I had Exotic Mission fatigue What used to be a fun surprise had just become part of the seasonal checklist, especially knowing I'd have to run it x amount of times At least I got the Green Saber

If you don’t enjoy doing it blind then watch a guide and finish it in 20 mins. Also Praxic blade isn’t the only viable anti barrier
