How is marathon sustainable when it is getting wrecked by destiny in player count? There's gotta be a chance they change course and come back to d2

Player count compared to D2 does not matter. The player population does not pay recurring costs. New sales are what matters, and they are likely to be very low. Revenue pays the costs, not player population

Player counts are a liability. Server overhead and upkeep. If they are not paying customers they represent a loss. Even before the announcement mtx were frowned upon and even shunned by the D2 community probably exponentially more so after the decision was announced. Marathon is still losing but the lower player count is probably working in its favor for server costs. They most likely will try to ride it out for a while and pull the plug on both.

Because the higher ups will fail upwards until they file bankruptcy with leadership walking away with millions. Never trust any American run company to make anything quality. They don’t care if they are successful or not. They are so big they can only win even when they lose. -

Simple answer… it’s not!
