I admit in the past I thought Salvathune was 100% evil. With her scamming her way into the tower and tricking Heiress Moan into becoming a Hives double agent, it's a reasonable assumption.
However, as I spend more time in the throne world and take in the beauty of the Salvathunes palace, I am starting to think perceptions may have been wrong. At the very least, there may be shades of grey to the idea she is all bad. Judged through a different lens, and while somewhat self serving, a lot of what Salvathune has done has been somewhat of a benefit to guardians. For instance, she played a role in us being able to kill Onyx and Krota. While this move did benefit her in that she became Hives queen; ultimately, it also benefitted us. Dealing w Salvathune as Hives leader has been far less taxing and dangerous than her dad and brother. Also, a lot of the really bad things attributed to Salvathune have been caused by her subordinates. This is important to note, because we also know that many of her subordinates are disloyal and seek only to advance themselves or, more recently, the Witness. With hindsight it's easy to imagine that a lot of these actions may not actually have been ordered by Salvathune. This potentially goes back a very long way meaning that many of the worst acts attributed to Salvathune may not have been her own. Finally, the biggest evidence of her true nature is that the Traveller decided to give her, and Hives serving in her palace, the light. This one fact alone is like the theory of everything (just like in that movie). It proves that the Traveller sees good in Salvathune, because why else would he give her the light. It also proves that Salvathune chose good over evil, because she could have easily accepted the darkness and likely would have immediately become the Witnesses second in command. In the end, it seems more likely that she is at most neutral rather than good/bad. It's like that thing where people have two devils on their shoulder, sometime they listen to the bad devil and sometimes they listen to the good one.

Because none of them are "hive"... or were hive to start so "Wurm Brethren" is more accurate. Savathun was Sathona... before that? 👀Someone else. That's the begging of the metamorphosis. And Savathun not being Savathun? That's the end. That's the Traveler; insignificant as a drop of water disintegrating in the palm of her hand. That's the end and also the beginning of the new saga. 😇👍💠
