D2 Heating Up PC by a lot

Hey guys, I don't know if anyone here will know how to help me, but since the update a few weeks ago D2 started heating up my pc real bad, which is unusual since I can play a majority of "heavy" games without having this much trouble, and since I have been able to play D2 without this happening until one of the Monument of Triumph updates. The game is still playable and doesn't get FPS drops, but it really heats up my pc and that isn't exactly normal. If anyone knows how to help I'd appreciate it. Thanks a lot

  • Hello there, Thank you for your report. There has been a known PC-side Destiny 2 issue around GPU memory usage and long-session degradation, including reports that performance could degrade over time even when the outright crash portion had been mitigated. So if this only started after a recent update and other heavy games are still behaving normally, it is fair to suspect Destiny 2 specifically is pushing your system differently right now. A couple practical things are worth trying on PC: lower the game resolution or render load a bit, since higher GPU memory pressure can increase heat and performance issues on DX12. close other GPU-using apps while playing, because browsers and other background programs can also consume dedicated GPU memory and make the situation worse. If Destiny 2 suddenly started heating up your PC much more after an update, that does sound credible, and it is more likely tied to game-side GPU/memory behavior than to your hardware randomly failing overnight.
