BattleEye failed to update for PC and will not launch Destiny2. Need help from Bungie. I uninstalled it then let it reinstall by launching Destiny2, but it still failed to update and will not allow Destiny2 to launch. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1 ReplyHello there, Thank you for reaching out. “BattlEye failed to update” is coming from BattlEye itself and usually means something on the PC is blocking or breaking its update process. A few things to try: Run platform as admin & verify files Close Destiny 2 and your launcher (Steam / Epic / MS Store). Right‑click the launcher → Run as administrator. Verify / repair Destiny 2’s game files from the launcher. Try launching again so BattlEye can reinstall/update. Whitelist BattlEye and Destiny 2 Temporarily disable or whitelist Destiny 2 and BattlEye in any antivirus, firewall, or security suite (including Windows Defender). Make sure no VPN/proxy is running while you test. Launch Destiny 2 again. Manually reset the BattlEye folder Go to your Destiny 2 install folder → “bin” → “BattlEye” (exact path varies by launcher). Delete the contents of the BattlEye folder only. Verify game files again so the launcher redownloads a fresh BattlEye install. Check Windows & drivers Install all pending Windows updates and reboot. Make sure you’re not running from a read‑only or very restricted drive/folder (no special security software sandboxing Destiny 2/BattlEye).

It means BattlEye (not Destiny 2 itself) can't connect to its own server; reboot your modem/router, check your AV/firewall rules, change DNS, try a VPN...
