Why does the game still have old-style armor loot? It's absurd.

I could, like many others, continue to ignore this mess, but I'd rather speak out, as this situation is unhealthy. I know this is normal for MMOs, and there's always irrelevant loot that can be used for leveling. But these MMOs don't remove game expansions. Bungie, If you've committed to removing something irrelevant for a given timeline while keeping the old gear, it smacks of double standards. If you announced tier 5 armor with specialization, please rework all available destination armor and armor for all key PvP/PvE activities accordingly. This armor may have a 300 Light cap in Patrols and campaigns, but it will be new armor. With your strange decisions to isolate new loot in the portal and the last two expansions, you've effectively destroyed approximately 80% of the game, including Gambit mode. The portal should be a hub for convenience, not a game within a game. You might say that old armor can be used for transmogrification, but honestly, it's crazy to buy something you don't need only to break it. Why not get rid of this outdated mechanic and unlock a whole list of old armor in the character profile? After all, players will still have to complete contracts to unlock armor skins for customization.

  • Destiny 2 development is, “How can we get these addicts to play something they’ve already played before, and grind it for months to give us time to work on something we enjoy instead of D2?” That’s why the loot is screwed, that’s why all our DLCs are now mini areas with gimmick powers, and that’s why even the stuff they’ve pushed out until June is going to be recycled content. They aren’t going to suddenly crunch on D2 like they are doing for Marathon. They made a judgement call and let what they thought was the “weakest” of the two die to focus on saving the other. And let’s not forget about the upcoming layoffs as Bungie will have to trim away more devs to make their hit Marathon look like it made them money. Fewer devs means on paper they are successful, but will they ditch Marathon devs they still have a use for, or ditch the D2 devs for a game people have largely stopped playing?
