D3? Bungie will not survive if Marathon fails and will be disassembled by Sony. I'd be surprised if Bungie survives the year.

Destiny has been on the decline for at least 3 years. From the very moment that cutscenes became FaceTime calls and missions being recycled into strikes (so maybe 4 years ago now, I can’t remember exactly when they started this). Once Bungie started to recycle missions and events into strikes, we systematically got less and less because Bungie figured out players would still engage with reused and recycled content/assets and in some cases praise Bungie for it. Lol. To wit: 1. Coil. I don’t understand the praise this got. Recycled dreaming city assets, run like a rat through a maze, don’t get killed by rock or spikes ….. I could barely do 3 runs without falling asleep. Just because they swapped the order in which you had to do things between runs does not make it replayable. 2. Prismatic. This is the epitome of recycled content that many streamers fawned over. Was it strong because of the originally unintended interactions of abilities being put together? Sure. But most of prismatic was recycled. Bungie just repackaged most of the lower use abilities to give them a second chance. It’s not only the current decision makers that would create a subpar D3. Most of the decision makers that came before would make a subpar D3. Don’t forget what D2 launch was like. Terrible. Now look at Marathon. 1. Stamina bar so you have to WALK everywhere. 2. A worse UI than D2 (they had to try on this). 3. Currency system where you have to buy TWO bundles to buy ONE package because Bungie intentionally made it so if you buy one currency bundle you are just shy of enough credits to buy one package (Bungie said they will rectify this). 4. Marathon is an amalgamation of what Bungie wanted to do in D2 but players rioted against. a. Seasonal reset. b. Less gear so no need to worry about space. c. Recycled content. By sunsetting. Bungie does not have to invest in new assets. They just expect everyone to grind each season. (Sound familiar? Portal at launch maybe?) Do the same thing, climb the same ladders, maybe a few new reskinned guns each season. “New runner” each season. Want to bet this new runner will have D2 guardian abilities? I suspect each season will be a slow drip of guardian abilities and D2 exotic perks being introduced into marathon. d. Recycled content again. A lot of the Runner abilities and exotic armaments are variants of D2 abilities and exotics. A person would have to be a fool to buy any Bungie product. A person would have to be a fool to not see the pattern. In some ways. Marathon has many of the systems that Bungie wanted and/or implemented in D2, which D2 players were against. So Marathon to a certain extent is D3. Bungie knew it could not implement these systems in something called Destiny or looked like Destiny. So Bungie went out of its way into another genre, which requires less upkeep, applied a wildly different aesthetic and then applied all the systems that D2 players pushed against.

Even if I was interested in a D3, which I am not, what are they going to do story wise ??, what engine is it going to run on ?? .. an updated version of an updated version of a twenty year old engine that is clearly past it's best. After Final Shape they should have gone on to Destiny 3. They could have done a story that took it full circle. We killed the Witness. Now we go back using Vex time tech and experience the collapse, and then work out how to stop it. We could see the major events we have only read about and meet characters of lore. Imagine meeting Eris and her fireteam before they went to the moon, or even Saint 14 when he was a fighting Titan and not some middle aged man's boyfriend. And all those events are ALREADY in the game. Just put them on the screen. Could have been great, and taking the story full circle. We sacrifice ourselves to make sure humanity never experiences the collapse. But. The game is done. Destiny 2 is over. No one I know is interested in starting to play it for three reasons. One, the content that is missing, two the pathetic "New Light" introduction and three, current players telling them not to bother. And those who have stuck with it this far are just done. Tired of what could be, tired of Bungie. Just tired. Look at the numbers, they are in freefall from not a lot to start with. The Portal was just the final nail in the Destiny coffin. The only thing I have played in the last few weeks, and it hasn't been a lot, is a bit of Fireteam Quickplay. And even then I get bored after yet another run of something I have done literally hundreds of times before. And when I logged in I got yet another banner telling me that it was one armed dyslexic lesbian month or something and Bungie wanting me to give them money for a cause I don't care about. Sony may well give the franchise to another studio. I don't think it will matter, there are too many good game already out there and things like GTA 6 on the horizon for Destiny to matter anymore. Players are tired. New players are not appearing. Witcher 3 is just about as old as Destiny 1 but it had a next gen update to 4k and 60 fps and the whole marketing for Witcher 4, on Unreal Engine, is starting soon with a DLC for Witcher 3. An eleven year old game. And I am excited for that because CDPR genuinely care about their products. Cyberpunk was atrocious when it launched, now it's one of my favourite games. They put the time in and sorted their mistakes. Bungie just keep making them. Look at the delayed update. What do we get ?? .. Pantheon 2.0. And tiered armour in raids and dungeons. Once again catering to the streamers and the 10% of those players left who do raids and dungeons. Nothing I care about. Destiny is over for me. I had fun but that's it.

They should just add Strikes,Raids and Dungeons to Marathon, then bam, D3 with sprinkles

personally i would rather have a remaster of d1 with todays graphics, some new features added like catalyst to exotics, dungeons & newer exotic quests

I hope Destiny 3 circles around Eververse even MORE! Actually I hope we get Advertisements when we are in the ship loading screen about Eververse! No I REALLY wish every half hour the game pauses automatically to remind us of EVERVERSE!! That would be awesome 👍
