Steam will not launch Destiny 2

I go to hit green play button on steam, it will look as though it will be about to launch, then the button will revert to the green play button. I have tried: verifying game files, restarting steam and my computer, checking that graphics card is up to date and uninstalling and reinstalling.

 • Hi there, Thank you for reaching out. While I understand you have taken some troubleshooting steps already, please try the following steps from our Steam Guide to hopefully help to resolve this issue:
- Clearing Steam Download Cache: Players who encounter issues with Steam or Destiny 2 should also try clearing their Steam download cache. For instructions, please see Valve’s Clear Download Cache knowledge base article. - Windows Defender: Destiny 2 players on PC may encounter an issue where Windows Defender incorrectly detects specific Destiny 2 files as infected with malware when performing a scan. Players who encounter this issue should update their virus definitions. For more information, please see our Windows Defender knowledge base article. - CVARS Troubleshooting: When encountering configuration issues in Destiny 2, it is recommended that players delete their existing CVARS.xml file. This file can be found in: \Users\USER_NAME\Appdata\Roaming\Bungie\DestinyPC\prefs\ PLEASE NOTE When relaunched, Destiny 2 will generate a fresh CVARS.xml file. This will revert all custom player settings in Destiny 2 to their defaults. For more information, please see our CVARS knowledge base article.
If this doesn't resolve the issue, I would also suggest trying to install Destiny 2 to a different hard drive if possible to rule out any hardware issues.

 • Press Windows Key + R, type dxdiag into the Run dialog box, and press Enter. If asked, click "Yes" to check for driver signatures. Then click "Save All Information" to save a report on a text file. Then upload the saved text file to a website like https://pastebin.com/ and link it here.
